Well, if they were different colors, then he would have to guess, correct. That is why this is a deduction answer riddle. Once, the third guy realizes that the fourth guy has to guess, he knows that his hat and the second man's are different, therefore HE (the third man) would know that his hat color is opposite of the second man's.

Get it now? The answer isn't going to be one set man, it is a combination of the third and fourth through deduction.

Both the second and third man will always know what color they are wearing.

If 4 sees two of the same color, he calls it out. Three and two both know they have the opposite color and shout it out. On hears what they say and shouts the same color as 4.

Now if 4 sees two different colors, he is unsure and waits. Three knowing that 4 would shout out the answer immediately if he saw two of the same color, shouts out the opposite color of what two is wearing. Two realizes that he is wearing the opposite of three and shouts that color out. If an incorrect response killed only the incorrect guesser, then at least one of the remaining two would live. If one of them guesses wrong, they die, then the other says the same color and lives. If the first guesses chooses correctly, the last man says the opposite color and everyone lives!

Holy shit, this is one of the biggest cases of thread digging I've ever seen. Do it again, and you will surely be banned.

eh theres a reason they do that. All of zelarons old threads are on google so when someone gets to it the dont see the date and they reply to it thinking its sorta new. I wouldent blame them much, I bet thats the case cause it was a serious reply and his ip dosent match anyone else on zelaron.

You arrive at the gates of heaven and hell. Two guardians are here. None of them is sitting in front of a particular gate, they are just walking around. One of the gate leads to heaven, the other to hell, you have to find which one. The only thing you know is that one of the guardian is always lying and the other always telling the truth. You can ask one question to one of them.

What do you ask?

1. that got me thinking for a while, but there was something of a funeral on the tv and then it made sense, I think its a coffin

2. a question about this 1, u dont know which of the gaurdians is telling truth or which 1 is lying ?

Yeah, the first one is a coffin.

THe second one is something along the lines of, "What gate would the other guy not tell me to go in?"

Guy telling the truth would tell you the gate from Heaven (Since the liar would tell you not to go in there because it is hell, but he is lieing.)
Guy lieing would tell you would also tell you the gate from Heaven (Since the truth would be the gate from hell, but the liar would say the opposite, which is Heaven).

this is what i think, who ever says the answer first "which gate is heaven" should be the right one

~if both say it is heaven......it has to be heaven
~if both say it is hell............it has to be hell
~if the first answer say this is heaven and thre other say THIS is heaven. i would go with the first.

If more than 1 word comes out of ANY of their mouths...if u understand the terms basically meaning
not more then 1 word can come out of any mouth of 4 people
1 talks means the rest cant or Boom...

now if they said ~Anyone~ of their mouths then each could say 1 word...but they didnt so really once the 2nd person began to talk they would all die sticking to the rules of the riddle.

Its a riddle ur suppose to think hard, everyone may think thats the right answer that everyone stated...but its wrong, they would all die if more then 1 person spoke.

So The most confident person and 100% sure person of color of his hate would be the 1 and the only person who spoke first which can be any of the 4..Cause if they wana all live only 1 person would speak not all of them.

But if its just typo from any to anyone...then the answers posted would be right.

Dude, you are an idiot, there is no typo and your arguement up there is false. It means simply this: After word #1 (one, numero uno) is said, NOTHING else can be said, so unless you knew the answer positively, you wouldn't speak.

The first man cannot guess surely so he may die... but if he blows up, the shrapnel will kill the second man. If this is the case, the third man doesn't know what color hate the second man has and thus has less of a chance of guessing correctly. If he guesses incorrectly then his bomb will go off and kill the fourth man. So basically... unless they stand far enough away from eachother they are fucked anyway.
