but i drive a jeep so i get horrible mileage.....

I drive either an Acura LX or a VW Rabbit. Pretty good mileage on both. I miss my VW Jetta TDI. I could get easily 55 mpg highway.

I'm not sure exactly why the prices have dropped the way that they have. Could be fracking, could it be something to have to do with Venezuela and Russia and outside factors trying to ruin their currency? Probably the most likely.

Either way, $5 is gas money again.

Wallow 2015-02-04 11:54 PM

Oversupply of oil and OPEC's decision not to curb their production in order to make US fracking unprofitable. It's essentially a price war coupled with weakening demand in Europe and Asia.

Yay for oil induced deflation

D3V 2015-02-05 08:25 AM

I heard OPEC's Secretary General said he expects prices to go up to around $200/barrel. He can eat a bag of cocks.

This whole market is completely hogwash, driven by pure speculation given that production rates have remained consistent.

Wallow 2015-02-05 09:50 PM

He probably said that hoping it would have some positive speculative effect.

But at the direction of core deflation in Europe, I wouldn't be surprised if prices eventually reach 1970's levels again.

This is why I'm investing my stock portfolio primarily in green energy. They and Oil are both busting currently, and Oil will certainly boom back within the year, but in the next 5 years "green corporations" are going to completely level the playing field.

I paid $1.099/gallon for gas today, and it was legal.

Skurai 2015-02-12 09:32 AM

About a week ago it became 1.89 for ONE day. Literally one day. It went right back to 2.99
