Yeah, I am also useing all the tools and seeing what they do.

Randuin 2003-02-22 06:21 PM

good way to explore programs :) but sometimes some tools only work in some circumstances... that's when other tutorials come in handy :D

Acer 2003-02-22 06:28 PM

Yep, totally agree. I just cant figure out what is Smooth Bevel is. I know how to work it, but what does it do.

Randuin 2003-02-22 09:31 PM

i'm guessing it's a well... smooth bevel?

Acer 2003-02-23 12:38 PM

people say it is the most powerful tool, I dont see why it is.

Chruser 2003-02-23 03:19 PM

I'm not sure if you're talking about LightWave, as there is no operation called "Smooth Bevel". However, there IS a "Smooth Shift" operation, which DOES bevel polygons smoothly, so I guess that's what you were referring to. And yes, it's a great tool.

Generally, you can select multiple polygons, activate Smooth Shift to duplicate them, and then drag them out easily.

Acer 2003-02-23 03:34 PM

Yeah Smooth Shift, opps :P... I tried useing it, but it just seems liek bevel to me :P

Randuin 2003-02-23 07:32 PM

so what does it exactly do?

Acer 2003-02-24 11:22 AM

Im not sure, I been trying to figure it out. The answer is infront of me, but I cant see it :P. I think it is just a good Bevel for multi Polys

ADDED: Well I found out how to use it, for some reason my LW was all messed up and I reinstalled, it takes multi Polys and bevels them as it they were 1 polygon but still keeping them their own polygon.

Randuin 2003-02-24 04:47 PM

ah... like unified bevel almost :) cool

Acer 2003-02-24 05:33 PM

yes, very useful for molding as I learned :)

Randuin 2003-02-24 05:35 PM

try to spell at least ;P modeling

Acer 2003-02-24 05:48 PM

No no, I mean Molding, like as in clay ;P

Randuin 2003-02-24 06:22 PM

really? you do real life molding? take a picture of your work and post it :D

Acer 2003-02-24 07:47 PM

I did when I was younger, but now I just lost interest in it :P

Randuin 2003-02-24 08:43 PM

i never did any sculpting :P although i wanted to but working with dirt wasn't my liking :D

Acer 2003-02-24 09:01 PM

I used this clay, it was rough and wasnt dirty at all. It didnt rub of on my hands much either.

Randuin 2003-02-24 09:02 PM

Acer 2003-02-24 09:23 PM

Randuin 2003-02-24 09:52 PM
