Yes, obviously the definition to a word is decided upon by the people, but it can't be manipulated by the people. Once a word has an officially accepted definition, you can't just go mutating that definition into whatever the hell you want. You can apply that definition however you want, but you can't alter it for your own purposes.

What we're actually arguing in this thread is actually just the meaning of virginity. If one were to use the denotative meaning of virginity, then a person loses his or her virginity by engaging in a sexual act. If one were to use a modern (or even not-so-modern) connotative meaning of virginity, then a virgin has different requirements.

It's really just a difference in view. It has nothing to do with manipulating the definition of a word.

Just as many words, there are multiple meanings. For instance:

vir·gin ( P ) Pronunciation Key (vûrjn)
n.
A person who has not experienced sexual intercourse.

In my mind, sexual intercourse is a lot different than a sexual act, as you put it. You chose the loss of purity definition, I chose this one. Same word, different meanings, or contexts/interpretations for the meaning.

Wow all of you must fall in love with shallow women who dont like you for what you are and how you act, and prefer you for the way you look.

Youd be one to talk, quikspy. I mean look at you, your desperate to show off your cock to mantralord for crying out loud.

Sov messed up the title of the thread. I should have just created a new thread when I asked this question in Ganga's thread.

What it really should read is, "Is oral considered losing your virginity?" - of course oral is a form/type of sex.

Penny_Bags 2004-04-27 03:39 PM

Raziel, are you just defining a loss of virginity as anything as small as a handjob to make yourself feel like you're not a virgin?

Raziel 2004-04-27 10:57 PM

I was waiting for someone to use that rather predictable insult.

And no. I just think it's retarded to consider a person that has engaged in fisting, gangbangs and animal sex, but hasn't had sexual intercourse, a virgin

Acer 2004-04-27 11:27 PM

If you have sex with a animal, I consider it same as having sex with a human, but just dirty and wrong

Dan XIII 2004-04-29 06:32 PM

I think a person would still be considered a virgin after oral.
