The Legend of Cel-da
Most people are amazed at the new look of Zelda. The new cel-shaded graphics make most people think that this game is gonna suck. I really don't care because there will be great lighting and animation, and like all Zelda games it will probably have great gameplay. Well, what do you guys think of the new look?
the graphix look like they were drawn by a 3-year-old
Stop complaining all the time. At least it's a Zelda game :p
Well its gonna have great lighting and animations so i dont care..
yes, but the drawings are bad.

do u agree with me or yourself?
well...zelda on snes was the best by far and has almost the worst graphics. graphics arnt everything. there are many games that prove that. anyone have a link to some screenshots of this game though? im just kinda curious.
I liked the n64 versions of zelda.but I hate the jet set radio graphics of the new one
but I am all for it. if it has a great story, jus hope they don't mess that up too |
I was agreeing with myself :)
Personally, I liked Zelda 1 extremely much, and it was probably better than Zelda 3 was when it was released, but I still haven't manage to pick a winner now. If I had to choose one today, I'd pick Zelda 3 though, since it's not irritatinly hard to complete. |
i like link to the past for snes. its a great game.
The graphics look terrable, but I still want to get.

yea....true
Cel-Da... Sounds Russian.
lol, learn to spell
OMG, y'all have no sense of imagination, do you? I called it Cel-da because the graphics are cel-shade polygons. Read it in EGM........
ok.....whatever you say.....
I was thinking more like "cel = cell phone" - "da = yes in russian".
So it would be something like "Cell Yeah!" |
Or "Zel, ahhh, Yes..!" if you wish.
yea, the Legend of Zelda.
I called it that because the graphics are made up of cel-shaded polygons.... you know like Cel Damage?
kind of.....
I don't really know what to think of the new look. The few demo videos I've seen make the whole atmosphere of the game seem really cartoony and goofy, in my opinion. I liked the more serious tone that Ocarina set for the series. Nintendo is overloaded with cartoony games, and it was nice to see such a well known series step away from that "kiddie" mold. Now, it just kind of looks like the series is jumping right back into it.
agreed, it looks very kiddie
I guess they kinda have to do it though. Link isn't the Gamecube's mascot. Mario was the big thing on NES (SMB3), Donkey Kong was the big thing on SNES (DKCountry), Link was the big thing on N64 (Ocarina of Time), and Samus will be the big thing on Gamecube. I have hope that Zelda will be good, but it still kinda worries me.
I'm OK with it if it has good gameplay and a good storyline...
but what about graphix?
The graphics are so cool. The game I think is going the game of the year next year when it comes yet. Although it does look like kidie graphics gamecube, the game is going to the best. Don't judge a game by the looks.
the graphix look bad, but i might just rent it to try it.
I have faith in Nintendo that the game will still be a great game. But I'm just not sure the choice they've made to use the Cel-Shading garphics engine is the best marketing idea.
what is a Cel-Shading graphics engine?
The graphics engine is just simply what kind of visual graphics the game uses. For instance, the towns in Final Fantasy 7 are all prerendered backgrounds as opposed to the polygonal graphics used for the characters. Cel Shading is just a more specific type of graphic engine. Cel shading gives the characters that cartoony look.
oh, cool. so that sounds pretty stupid
Well hopefully the next Zelda game for GameCube will have "normal" graphics...
yea, hopefully. it makes it look more serious
Oh E3 is comin up and I heard they changed cel-shaded Link's eyes so that he doesn't look like a girl....
I saw something about that earlier today, but I couldn't load the screenshots. I FUCKING HATE IGN!!!!!
yea me too
