Best Multi-player?
GoldenEye was the first SUPER multi-player. I do not care if people like the new ones like Halo. The old is king!!!!
I still play it. it is a great game to this date. Screw teh fact that it doesnt have the top of the line graphics anymore
Goldeneye was great while it lasted. It's old and outdated now though...in my opinion halo is better now.
Er... Half-Life and all of it's mods.

GO QUAKE I !!!!!!!!!!!!
You fucking noobs, Quake I is old school |
DOOM also ruled on a LAN. Players moved like predators on speed.

Offline, in a four player split screen multiplayer, it's tough. Many fun times back in the day with Goldeneye, and many fun times still with Halo. And then of course there is Timesplitters 2, which is a helluva lot of fun to play too. I really couldn't decide.
And then if you consider online multiplayer games, I'd have to go with Raven Shield, or maybe Counter-Strike. Both brought me countless nights of fun. EDIT: Oh, and besides shooters, I can't ignore Super Smash Bros. Melee. That kept me and my friend's eyes strained for months. Even though I never could get too great at it, continously counter-attacking everyone with Marth was one of the most entertaining things of my gaming history. |
SSBM. No contest. Goldeneye lasted a long time, Perfect Dark lasted a long time, Mario Party has lasted a long time. But, none of those games (or any other multiplayer game in history) can claim ownership of over 200 hours of my life, like SSBM can. I just wish I could make all of my friends suck at it again so I could kick their asses with Ness.
Man... in the first SSB I was the motherfucking man with Ness... I could beat ANYONE with him. And don't get me started on Fox... holy shit.
Yeah, but Ness was God in SSB. His step kick was an instant kill, his throws were instant kills and they took precedence over all other attacks, his PK Cannonball shot almost all the way across the screen and did insane damage, and his smash attacks were powerful enough to kill an opponent at very low damage. He was the hardest character to unlock because he was the best character in the game, hands down. They really toned him down for SSBM. Kicking ass with Ness in SSBM is a much tougher thing to do.

GoldenEye is GOD when it comes to staying up all night with friends playing 4player.
Yup goldeneye followed by perfect dark. Damn microsoft for buying rare -_-

and my favorite first person shooter would have to be halo simply because when you have 16 player halo it is alot more intense than any 4 player games or 007 that i have played |
Perfect Dark pwned after Goldeneye went bleh. Man, that was freakin great.
Putting proximity mines under a mine respawn point in multiplayer was always great.

My feelings exactly. Goldeneye>halo
I mean Halo is a really awsome game but In my book it is in 2nd or 3rd against Golden Eye...
TimeSplitters 2 is decent, it's like Goldeneye on Cocaine.
Goldeneye really was great.
Counterstrike is in a league all by itself. I liked Super Smash Bros over melee simply because they gimped Mario a bit in Melee, and he was my character of choice in the old one. Still, the Super Smash games are the funnest to play with a few friends. Mario Party really isn't too bad. If you have some good competition, it's really quite fun. I detested Halo. I don't know if it's because of the dual-analog controls or because I'm not particularly fond of the Xbox or... I'ono. I was playing Counterstrike probably two years before Halo came out, so it was no big shit to me. CS pwns it. |

If you mean ANY mulltiplayer game I would have to put my vote in for Super Dodge Ball on NES. All you old school gamers know what I am talking about.
Roger roger pwn. I don't have that game. :( I do have two friends who do though.
The Neogeo remake wasn't bad, either. Dodgeball Advance for the GBA's also fun.
My favorite is Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1 and 2 for Gamecube, then Mario Kart Double Dash, then Super Smash Bothers Melee.
