Zelaron 2006

I think we should compose an email and send it too all the members. Basically just saying "Hey, we're still here!". The contents don't really matter, you could say something about the new year, and zelaron being bla bla bla...
The real purpose is just to remind some of the older members and people who have signed up and just never posted that we're still active.
I once read a post of some random guy who said he just stopped by because of the birthday emails that get sent. So I think this could have some influence on a few people.

!King_Amazon! 2005-12-27 09:03 PM

That is a pretty sweet idea, I just wonder if it is possible. If it is, I think it would be a great thing to do.

Lenny 2005-12-28 05:15 AM

Of course it'll be possible.

We all get an e-mail on our Birthday saying "Happy Birthday", and everyone got an e-mail when they signed up saying "Thanks for Registering", so it should be possible to send out a "Happy New Year" e-mail. No reason why not.

JRwakebord 2005-12-28 11:00 AM

I like it. And if it results in even one or two new active members, I would consider it a success.

Titusfied 2005-12-29 06:14 AM

I'm pretty sure it's easy enough?

Kaneda 2005-12-31 09:08 PM

Someone do it! QUICK! You good for nothing mods.

WetWired 2006-01-01 12:15 AM

Like I told, KA, someone needs to write a good e-mail.

Dar_Win 2006-01-01 12:34 AM

The e-mail:

Dear member, former member, ect.,

Hello, I would just like to wish you a Happy New Year from us at Zelaron. I would also like to tell you if you quit Zelaron, to COME THE FUCK BACK!!!.

Homosexual Love,
The Zelaron Staff.

Lenny 2006-01-01 05:02 AM

How about Chruser's Happy New Year post? With a itsy bitsy smidgen of zest.

The staff of Zelaron.com wishes everyone a happy new year! :)

Dear Zelaronians,
It's the beginning of a brand new year and that means the continuation of the console wars! Playstation 2, Xbox 360 and the Revolution will all be making debuts in 2006 and what better of a place to discuss the excitement then http://www.zelaron.com ?
Thats not all 2006 is going to be bringing us though, what about the leaps and bounds to be made in the computer world? FPS? MMOs? RTS? Zelaron does it all!
So as of right now, I'm making your new years resolution for you. Come visit http://www.zelaron.com atleast once this year and if you don't find something interesting to talk about you can atleast post about how much you hate me in the Flame Forum. Cheers!

!King_Amazon! 2006-01-03 05:56 AM

Plus the Xbox 360 debuted in 2005...

Kaneda 2006-01-03 07:20 AM

Ya but it was pretty fucking close chief. =P I just want someone to spam all the members. Damnit...

Thanatos 2006-01-03 12:12 PM

Don't expect anything to get done around here. No admins care. Bottom line.

gruesomeBODY 2006-01-03 01:29 PM

its a good idea

Dear member, former member, etc.,

From Day 1, 01-14-2002, Zelaron has been taken a fancy of by many members, in fact, possibly you yourself has taken a liking to these beloved forums. Well, almost exactly four years has passed, and we still stand strong. Not as strong as some times, but for the most part we are one. 2006 is here and we show absolutely no signs of standing down. This was sent to you, and every other member. Not only to remind you that a forum whom many people love still stands, accepting and welcoming new members, but to remind the older members to come stop by. With this last concluding statement, we end this naturally with a Happy New Year, Zelaroners of '02,'03,'04,'05,and finally '06.

With best regards,
Everyone who wants to make Zelaron a better place, staff and members included.

I hope that makes sense :) I was told previously by teachers that i have skill with writing simple to comprehend letters. Now that i brought up 'comprehend', i just thought of a new idea.

WetWired 2006-01-03 06:00 PM

Too much language; we have simple members, for the most part.

Mantralord 2006-01-03 06:12 PM

I think we should bring back the front page...I could write daily columns and shit.

Well first off the content of the letter hardly matters. Second, who cares if some of the people can't read at a 7th grade level. You can't make them ALL happy.

slaynish 2006-01-03 09:43 PM

Yeah seriously. Im in 8th grade too, and i was accepted into advanced comm arts for writing at a 12.0 grade level(a literary analysis paper). So you cant call me that stupid :)

Titusfied 2006-01-04 08:01 AM

I don't really care if the Admins don't do anything here anymore. I don't come here to be governed by rules, just to post my opinion.

Thanatos 2006-01-04 11:53 AM

That's not what we want the admins to do, though. We want them to try and improve the Zelaron experience any way they can. For WetWired to reject two or three typed-out e-mails that somebody else came up with because of stupid, petty reasons shows that he really doesn't give two shits about this site.

I say it's time for some new admins. Seriously, how long has it been now since any administration changes have been made? We need new people that will at least make the effort to improve this potentially great site.

Bleh, just my .02

Titusfied 2006-01-04 01:17 PM

I just don't think there is much more you can do to improve Zelaron, to be quite honest. Either that, or we are not smart enough to think of anything. Making new Admins would do nothing constructive, because Chruser still owns the rights, and WW is the only one allowed to touch the coding.. There's no point to argue over something that won't happen. I don't even think it would be a good idea if it did.

WetWired 2006-01-04 01:54 PM

To the contrary, I want an e-mail actually likely to cause the people it is sent to to come back, rather than one that makes no sense, looks like some kind of standard form letter, or that will keep them from reading past the first line.

Lenny 2006-01-04 01:56 PM

What's your suggestion? Do you have a type of thing in mind? A draft?

EDIT: Ooopsies...this comes across a bit indignant-ish. :p

I'm just interested in your ideas.

Ok, well you know what you want. So why not type it out really quick? Ultimately, you're the one that will send it out so why not make it to your standards by writing it yourself?

How about this?

I like it.

WetWired 2006-01-06 08:40 AM

It's a good thing that Chruser doesn't use his gameslink email anymore, because I suspect that he's in for a few hundred e-mails from MAILER-DEAMON

JRwakebord 2006-01-06 09:26 AM

I still get shit from that email address, and it's annoying as fuck.

Titusfied 2006-01-06 01:56 PM

The email I registered at Zelaron is no longer in use. I believe I can still check the email there, but I forgot the PW at least 2 years ago.. AOL sucks.

gruesomeBODY 2006-01-06 04:08 PM

i got that letter from Chruser. It was what grav wrote. Brought a tear to my eye

Why thank you. People still seem to like to send me e-mails to the GamesLink address on occasion. No massive MAILER-DAEMON spam yet though.
