Best Next-generation Console

What does everyone think the best next-gen console is?

The Revolution, XBox 360, PS3

I personally prefer Xbox over the revolution and PS3

The Revolution just sucks....

PS3 is too expensive.... way the fuck too expensive.....

What does every1 think???

Lenny 2006-10-30 08:58 AM

It's the Nintendo Wii, btw. Revolution was it's project codename until about E3 '06, I think.

If you're going to say the Wii sucks, and the PS3 is too expensive, then back it up. Why does the Wii suck? Why is thew PS3 too expensive? Just the fact that you get everything in one console at one price rather than mini bits you buy and jack the price up, or what?

So come on, if you want an argument but some oomph into your opening statement.

Helltooimp 2006-10-30 09:02 AM

well, for one, nintendo Wii, I don't like the controller setup, the PS3 does include everything, unlike the Xbox 360, but most of the games are already released on the 360!

Lenny 2006-10-30 09:29 AM

PS3 Launch titles:

Genji: Days of the Blade
NBA 07
Resistance: Fall of Man
Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
Call of Duty 3
EA Sports Fight Night Round 3
The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion
F.E.A.R.
Full Auto 2 Battlelines
Madden NFL 07
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire
NBA 2K7
NHL 2K7
Untold Legends Dark Kingdom
Ridge Racer 7
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
Sonic the Hedgehog
Need for Speed Carbon
Tony Hawk's Project 8
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas

21 games. 14 the 360 has, or is getting at the same time as the PS3. 7 that are exclusives.

The PS3 then has a little stack of exclusive games, somewhere in the region of 60, including gems such as MGS4, Lair, GT HD, Warhawk, and not forgetting the 3 FFXIII games from Squenix.

So, no, most of the games aren't already released on the 360. Perhaps 8 or 9 are, with a handful more coming out at the same time. We then see, over the couple of years after the PS3 launch, more and more titles coming out that are exclusive to the PS3.

-----

I like the idea of the Wii controller, but think that this might soon blow it out of the water: http://uk.gear.ign.com/articles/740/740679p1.html

Great-Thanatos 2006-10-31 10:07 AM

Need for Speed Carbon.

!King_Amazon! 2006-10-31 03:37 PM

Of course the Xbox 360 is the best even if you have to buy 4 of them to get a working one.

Fanboy.

Sovereign 2006-10-31 11:15 PM

I'm leaning towards the PS3 atm, but only because of it's capabilities to at least play blu ray disks.

I'm probably not going to get either, as I've moved on to pc gaming.

Helltooimp 2006-11-01 08:28 AM

Yeah with people making emulator's for every damn console out there, the pc rules over all, but purely discussing gaming consoles microsoft has done a decent job with the 360. There are some tweaks here and there that need to be applied to the 360, but overall it's not a bad console.

Original Sin 2006-11-01 06:12 PM

Umm, PC's cant handle emulating an Xbox360 or PS3 at all. To emulate, you need 3-4x the power of what you are emulating. This is especially since the games are programmed for the hardware of the console, when you emulate, it is software based, and in order to run the software that emulates the game engine, it takes a lot more power.

Consoles own.

JRwakebord 2006-11-03 12:48 AM

X360 for the sole fact that it will have Halo3.

Call me a fanboy, I don't care.

Helltooimp 2006-11-03 07:45 AM

well who knows, with the quad sli setups coming into play, I would think that, wow my space bar really sucks..... well back to this topic, so with AMD coming out with a line up of socket 940 processors who knows what can be emulated in the near future....

Lenny 2006-11-03 10:38 AM

And Intel's Quad Core processors in 2008. Those should be fun. And damn expensive.

Helltooimp 2006-11-08 08:48 AM

Yep, fun shit, intel and AMD both kick some ass in processors, now if they would just give them to me for free.... :D

Fanboy.

To the guy saying ps3 is too expensive:

Sure PS3 is extremely expensive, but then it always was a system based for adults, not ment for kids to buy it IMO. They have always been easy to break if you drop them or whatever, where the xbox and wii are pretty darn sturdy.

But think about this... Sony is losing money for selling for that price... Hopefully that tells you something about how powerful it will be. If not then you are a fanboy tard.

Acer 2006-11-08 07:35 PM

It all depends on pref, and life style... ill explain

Depends on what type of games you like, generally the Xbox has games I like more than the PS3, now the Wii will always have my fun loving games.

Life style, well I have my PC and not much time to sit down on a console anyways so the only reason I'd want one is to take over to a friends house and have some drunken fun, and usually with girls not being very gaming... the Wii will provide those easy fun games like Mario Party, Strikers, SSB etc

so i'd go with Wii, then 360, then PS3. this has nothing to do with price, or how badass the system it is.

MightyJoe 2006-11-08 08:15 PM

360, also looses money for each one that is sold. I'd still go with the 360, since it has halo, and I already love my x box.

That wasn't the point. Well I guess that helps the point... The PS3 (like all consoles) cost alot of money to develop and put together. So if you are spending 700 and they are still losing money on it, then you know the performance of the console has got to be pretty high end... (Justification on price)

Bleh at Halo... Its the same game over and over.

New to Halo 3: 1 new weapon, 20 new online maps! All for just $50 and the cost of an xbox 360!

For me... I prefer longer games that are more in depth and the Playstation has always had the best RPGs (not including SNES) so yeah I'll be goin with the PS3 when I even decide to get it... Which most likely wont be for 6months or so after release, or longer.

!King_Amazon! 2006-11-09 02:37 AM

You tell a die hard halo 1 fan that halo 2 is the same game and he'll kick your ass. You've obviously not played one or the other, they're pretty damn different.

pr0xy 2006-11-09 09:21 AM

I have... Sure they introduced Boosting for Cov vehicles, and dual wielding, changed the power of most weapons, and allowed vehicles to blow up, and be locked onto. But... What are they going to do for halo 3? Tri-Wielding? The way I see the game theres nothing they couldnt change without say a patch that you have to pay for... All Halo 3 will be in my mind is updated graphics considering the system its on. That and maybe another weapon.

But I'd rather not wait untill 2010 to play it. (Yes I know they pushed it up to be released in 2007 but seriously... Do you honestly believe that?)

Just not worth it in my mind to pay over 500 bucks for a system where the only game I'd most likely play would be Oblivion =/ I'd rather just save an extra 200 for a system I know I would play.

Lenny 2006-11-09 10:22 AM

Microsoft lose money from the 360?

The PS3 hasn't been released yet and already Sony have predicted more than a $1.7 billion loss! They're having to make it up by taking profits from all the other divisions.

If the PS3 goes down in flames, Sony are goners.

You're forgetting one thing. Halo 3 also has STORY. I think a lot of people are forgetting about that.

HandOfHeaven 2006-11-09 07:04 PM

Personally I'd go with the Wii.

Lenny 2006-11-10 09:32 AM

If I could, I'd get a Wii just to play with the controller. All the videos of people using the controller look like fun.

Titusfied 2006-11-10 11:43 AM

Well, I just got a 360. I don't know much about the other consoles, but I just received my 360 as a gift, so I can't complain! :)

Lenny 2006-11-10 12:02 PM

I have to say that Gears of War looks good. The graphics and environments for one look amazing!

Though, from he reviews I've read, the gameplay is rotten, the story and dialogue are stale, and the multiplayer is 4 v 4 on miniscule maps.

Saying that, it ain't half gory, and the "take cover" tactic is pretty interesting.

pr0xy 2006-11-16 03:14 PM

I love gears of war... I just like third person shooters though. Friend has it so I havnt been on live.. Just 2v2 split screen.

Lenny 2006-11-16 03:49 PM

Do you like it JUST because you like TPS (sounds like some kind of bleach...) or is it elements of the game you like?

I've got a friend who ordered it last night. Chances are I'll be able to go over to his and play it sometime, just to see what it's like.

Luckily he lives about a minute away from school - so should we both have a free at the same time, or at lunch, I might be able to go down to his house and play for an hour.

KagomJack 2006-11-16 11:08 PM

I would love to get a Wii and a PS3. But I have to wait until I have enough money and until any and all known bugs/glitches are fixed.

Ditto. Cheap, decent games, cheap.

I read an article on g4 about amazon.com possibly putting up 100 dollar xbox 360's. Don't know if its true or not, nor do I care to check, but if it is I'd buy one.

Dont be a baby about the wii controller set up just because its something different. Yeah it might take some getting use to but it has the potential to be extremely fun. A very weak reason behind disliking the Wii. It looks like a very good buy for the amount of money you have to spend. Playstation 3 IS expensive but if you actually knew what kind of hardware they put into that bad boy you would see the reasoning behind that price.

Great-Thanatos 2006-12-02 08:06 PM

I use to be a sony lover, had a ps1 since I can't remember (doubt it was at launch tho) and ps2 since it launched. Now I own 360 and love it. Like I said I sold my pos ps3 cause it sucks... the 360 has WAY more features than ps3.
The Wii is friggen AMAZING I want one so bad. Everyone that I've talked to gives it shit (the controller sucks)... The people that say this are lazy I think. Moving around and shit with the Wii will help the kids that are going to start console gaming so that they don't turn out to be fattys like 90% of zel =\

Lenny 2006-12-03 03:55 AM

The 360 only has "WAY more features" than the PS3 because the 360s been out for over a year.

Go back to the 360 launch, and you wouldn't have seen half of the features it has now, then.

Give it a year or so, and Sony will have released a few hundred firmware updates and fixed all the problems with the software, as well as added in all the features people take for granted with the 360.

timmay1113 2006-12-03 04:46 AM

The people who whine about the wii controller probably haven't played it used it. They are just judging a book by its cover.

But sony has had more time to make the ps3 better than the 360

Lenny 2006-12-04 12:39 AM

More time to work on Hardware.

Sony are primarily a hardware company. Microsoft are software.

Three days after the 360 launch people were baying for MS' blood because of hardware problems - not a single software problem in sight.

We're now about two weeks after the PS3 launch. The only problems Sony have had are software problems - mostly to do with compatibility issues with about 200 games (sound won't play), and downscaling issues on old HDTVs that don't support 720p. I know that a patch is already in the works to solve both of these problems.

Slyvr 2006-12-08 02:06 PM

If i had enuf money, I'd buy a ps3. XBox always has stupid rip offs of pc games (Counter Strike) and Halo as well as a bunch of dumb sportsy games. My friend bought a Wii and brought it over during a lan party. It was alright. I'd love to play the new zelda game, twilight princess, but I dunno if it's gunna be any good with the weird remote. My lil bro might be gettin a Wii so I'll just play with his ^.^
I never asked for any of the consoles for christmas or anything. I prefer pc games myself. Although, I hate the constant upgrades you have to make to ur pc to keep up with the good games >.<

Lenny 2006-12-08 02:09 PM

I've just been nattering with someone about XBL, and he's pissed off about the Demos being only available to those with paid accounts.

And he's pissed off with MS milking customers for every penny they've got.

And so on and so forth.

And I was just reading a quaint little article about Nintendo being sued over the Wiimote by a Californian company who had patented a shockingly similar idea over a year ago.

The reason XBL Gold is $50/year is because its hardly ever laggy, for me atleast. And if you want to play xbl and you don't want to pay you shouldn't complain about not being able to dl demos tell that guy hes stupid and if hes french tell him to suck himself cause everyone I've met from france sucks and if you trash talk them they team kill cause they suck thats why they havn't won any wars =\

Lenny 2006-12-09 07:04 AM

Of course everyone from France sucks. They're French. It goes without saying.

And he can't afford a paid XBL account yet. He spent all his money on the 360, some games and a HDTV monitor dealy.

And they're Demos for Pete's sake! Why do you need to pay for a demo? That's what the internet is for - free demos.

You can get them all free on the PS3 network, so why not on XBL?
