It's like weed and alcohol in one. <3 <3 <3

KagomJack 2007-02-10 09:27 PM

I wish to try Absinthe. It seems interesting.

And slaynish: I love you.

!King_Amazon! 2007-02-10 09:43 PM

I shall try that once I'm legal to drink.

Sovereign 2007-02-10 11:14 PM

Why wouild it matter if you're legal to drink, Isn't absinth illegal anyway?

kaos 2007-02-11 08:24 AM

LSOLJLFKSj BURNED.

HandOfHeaven 2007-02-11 10:33 AM

Anyone else have Absinthe before? It's pretty tasty.

Lenny 2007-02-11 10:40 AM

What's it taste like?

I imagine it to be like Ouzo and taste of aniseed, for some reason.

Selling absinthe is illegal, making it is not.

As I cannot get the strong alcohol used to make it yet, I cannot try it. Therefore, no Absinthe for me until 21.

slaynish 2007-02-11 12:10 PM

Well the thing is, making it is illegal, to brew it and to distill it is illegal.

Their kit contains herbs and you are supposed to tend to them and then soak them in the alcohol for an extended period of time for the alcohol to take effect as the Absinth. They are infusing the herbs into the alcohol, therefore not distilling it and not necessarily making it, just altering it. It would be like adding a lemon to your water, but not actually brewing Lemon-Water.

Idk if that really makes sense, thats just what i picked up from reading it all.

HandOfHeaven 2007-02-11 12:36 PM

My friend ordered some from the Netherlands. The kind he got was pretty strong. It had a black licorice flavor and it made the entire inside of your mouth tingle, and no I wasn't on drugs at that time of my life. Last August near end of summer.

Lenny 2007-02-11 04:34 PM

Liquorice, eh? Sounds tasty!

Exactly, this method is legal as you're just infusing alcohol, not making it.

Are you sure he didn't just get Jaegermeister? That's pretty much exactly what Jaegermeister is. Good stuff too, and it hits like a train.

And I should probably clarify, you don't get Jaegermeister from the Netherlands. I'm pretty sure it's readily available in the US.

!King_Amazon! 2007-02-11 06:08 PM

Actually I just looked it up, apparently Absinthe's primary flavor is licorice. I absolutely love Jaegermeister so I'll probably love Absinthe as well.

HandOfHeaven 2007-02-11 08:58 PM

I thought it was Jaegermeister times 10. You'll notice the difference, but if you like Jag you'll love this. Uncle Jaegar is the shit, he comes to visit once a month. And yes, he did buy it from the Netherlands. Apparently it is not illegal to own, but illegal to purchase in the United States.

!King_Amazon! 2007-02-11 10:01 PM

I can't wait to try it. Only 2 more years...

KagomJack 2007-02-12 12:31 AM

I know for a fact you can buy it in Germany. US, though, I believe illegal.

Lenny 2007-02-12 05:45 AM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absinthe#Regulations

It seems that the US, and Vanuatu are some of the few places in the world where it is illegal to buy Absinthe. You poor guys! :p

It is my understanding that it illegal to buy or sell absinthe in the US, but if you're simply making it yourself it's mostly fine. The ingredients are legal.

kaos 2007-02-13 04:00 AM

True. But putting those ingredients together is not. Either way, you guys need to stop being so damn paranoid. Tis OK to smoke/drink in the privacy of your own home. kthxbai.

!King_Amazon! 2007-02-13 08:18 AM

Well just like any other crime you commit in your own home, the only way it's illegal is if your home gets raided by police or something.

Kaneda 2007-02-13 10:23 AM

Well you can order it online. So I don't what the big deal is then right?

slaynish 2007-02-14 07:47 AM

i dont think they send you the alcohol to infuse it with.. Or maybe they do im not sure.

how about someone order some so we know what its like

Thanatos 2007-02-14 08:01 AM

They send you the whole product.

You don't do anything to it but.... drink it.

slaynish 2007-02-14 08:47 AM

are you sure?

i dont think thats very accurate

Lenny 2007-02-14 08:59 AM

If you put flowers in a vase of vodka, rather than water, then they last a day or two less than if they were in water, but they open fuller and look brighter. :p
