People really need to get in IRC more. Maybe we need to set up some sort of java-based IRC for people who don't know how to use mIRC or trillian, or maybe someone write a guide. Trillian is incredibly easy to use, you just enter the server info and type in what channel you want to join.

Whenever I pop in nowadays there is only Kagom or no one.

Usually Kagom and MJ are on..but never anything happening.

So in reality, its pointless unless a shitload more people come on to get some sort of conversation going...

Don't just pop on, then, guys. That's why IRC usually doesn't work. People get on, see that either nobody is on or nobody is talking, and they leave. Just idle in there, otherwise the next person who joins is going to see the exact same thing you did.

Unless it has a window that flashes (like AIM), I won't be paying much attention to it. I'm usually doing like 3 things whenever I'm online.

Xchat will beep for you.

It will also fellate you if you'd like. That requires some mods, though.

What function doesn't Trillian have?

As far as I know, it does AIM, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, and IRC, probably more with add-ons and shit. Even just the basic Trillian does all of those. And in my opinion, it's IRC is a lot simpler to use for your average dumbfuck user.

I picked up Trillian because I used to log on Yahoo! Messenger as well as AIM, but I no longer do and just never switched back to AIM proper. I never really looked at everything Trillian does. ;)

Trillian is better than AIM even if you only use the AIM client on Trillian.

Having trouble getting Trillian to work with this, but I've never used IRC before.

Trouble? In what way. It worked fine with me. 30 seconds to set up and it was sorted.

No matter what nickname I chose, it said it was taken. Considering I used a few damn oddball ones makes me think that I simply failed to set it up correctly.
