USA Men's Basketball

Anybody been paying attention to the FIBA-America tournament that's being held in Las Vegas right now? It's basically a qualifying tournament that determines your admittance to the 2008 Olympics. Team USA is 4-0 right now. They're dominating everyone right now. Their margin of victory is at 40 points I believe. Although, we play Argentina on Thursday and they're also 4-0. If I'm not mistaken, Argentina won the Olympic Gold in '04 so it should be a very good game.

They play Puerto Rico tonight at 11 pm EST on ESPN2.

D3V 2007-08-28 02:23 PM

Awesome awesome. Had no idea it was even time again for the USA boys to play ball, if I remember, it was pretty emberassing last time we showed up to play (terrorist scared the players, apparently)

Demosthenes 2007-08-28 04:38 PM

I've seen every game. Although I'm going to have to skip the one tonight.

HandOfHeaven 2007-08-28 06:31 PM

I saw their game against Mexico. They are pretty damn good.

Lost-Soul 2007-08-28 09:12 PM

Carmelo Anthony, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Jason Kidd, and Dwight Howard. God damn we better be rollin up every team out there. Maybe could use a little more in the center position, but hey the other 4 are pretty effin impresive.

HandOfHeaven 2007-08-28 09:46 PM

They are just pounding on Puerto Rico. I thought it was funny how Anthony just about tripped when he landed from a big dunk.

Thanatos 2007-08-29 10:53 AM

We've got Stoudamire to backup Howard and Tyson Chandler (wtf?) to back them up. I think we've got a VERY solid team.

HoH, yeah I saw that, too. It looked like he got injured. I was like.. what a fucking moron for showing off and injuring himself.

Anthony, Lebron, and Kobe = unstoppable.

gruesomeBODY 2007-08-29 11:17 AM

Our team is incredible. Can anybody else believe how ripped Kobe god. It looks like he dropped about 20 pounds and bulked up

HandOfHeaven 2007-08-29 11:38 AM

I think the main thing is the team has powerful depth.

D3V 2007-08-29 11:45 AM

I'm going to try and catch some of the one tonight, ESPN2 correct? .. Awesome, that and got to remember to watch the Jags play tomorrow, another Thursday night game on FOX I believe..

Thanatos 2007-08-29 12:15 PM

Yep. 11:00 pm EST on ESPN2. Tomorrow's game vs. Argentina doesn't start until midnight which is a total bummer because that will be their hardest challenge yet.

Lost-Soul 2007-08-29 01:49 PM

The beauty of DVR...

Thanatos 2007-08-29 02:05 PM

Hah, I don't have that privelege... yet. Time to call Comcast, I think lol

MightyJoe 2007-08-29 02:20 PM

They've been rolling the in parts of the games that I've been able to watch.

Thanatos 2007-08-29 02:24 PM

They do that the whole game. So many great passes, knocked down 3's, monster jams; it's fun to watch.

HandOfHeaven 2007-08-29 04:12 PM

Almost like watching the Globetrotters.

MightyJoe 2007-08-29 05:55 PM

It really is, sportscenter had them on, just showing replays and it was pretty much just dunk after dunk, then Amarie hitting a 3.

Thanatos 2007-08-30 08:41 AM

Oh man last night's game was nasty. LeBron had 26 points on 11-11 shooting, in the first half. He didn't play after that, which was kinda dissapointing but they didn't need him out there anyway.

And I guess 'Melo really did injure himself on that dunk 2 nights ago. Moron.

D3V 2007-08-30 09:07 AM

Very impressive game, damn it was nasty only caught a bit of it but it was definately worth it, damn they look MUCH MUCH better.

Lost-Soul 2007-08-30 11:12 AM

Missed the game:( Some lush was runnin around flashin her tits all night at the bar. Couldn't pay attention to both...

Thanatos 2007-08-30 11:15 AM

This man has his priorities straight.

I'd probably be missin' the game as well .

HandOfHeaven 2007-08-30 11:46 AM

I saw that Brazil barely lost to Argentina in OT. When does Argentina play the USA, again? I really want to see that, because that could be some potentially good competition.

Thanatos 2007-08-30 12:46 PM

That game is tonight at midnight. USA and Argentina are both 7-0.

Kaneda 2007-08-30 02:59 PM

I wanted to go to this game with some guys from work but were kinda broke

klo 2007-08-30 03:11 PM

You could have gone had you not gone to _____ (wherever) last weekend.

D3V 2007-08-30 03:34 PM

Uh oh, the foot is down.

klo 2007-08-30 03:42 PM

If he really wanted to go and asked, i would give him my credit card. But he'll live. lol

Kaneda 2007-08-30 03:51 PM

I didnt even bother

Lost-Soul 2007-08-30 08:33 PM

Anyone know what channel the game is on tonight?

HandOfHeaven 2007-08-31 07:38 AM

I missed it. Fuck, man. Left my town really late.

Lost-Soul 2007-08-31 09:02 AM

Game was pretty sick last night! Anthony threw a monsterous dunk down over hallf the team. Kidd about threw one of the craziest ally oops off the backboard to James. Its like watchin the Globtroters out there.

Thanatos 2007-08-31 10:09 AM

Yeah. I don't see this team being stopped any time soon. Gold in '08 baby!

Maybe thats why half the world doesnt watch anymore

Thanatos 2007-08-31 11:31 AM

Wanna explain that?

gruesomeBODY 2007-08-31 02:32 PM

i saw the polls in the paper last week and it said that just americans were watching the matches. Everyone else was watching other things. I mean, it was from a local paper so i do not know how true the source was, but it was still interesting

Kaneda 2007-09-01 01:39 AM

So? How many Amercians watch soccer? Not a whole lot % wise I tell you. Fuck Em. We still enjoy watching our own team dominate, yes?
And besides we lost last time? Why wouldn't they have a reason to watch.

I understand completely. It was just a comment i was saying to show that only Americans really care about the game of basketball and not the world. But like i said, it was a local paper, so i dont know how truthful it really is.

HandOfHeaven 2007-09-02 05:32 PM

3 minutes into the 2nd quarter and USA is dominating Argentina 42-19.

Demosthenes 2007-09-02 05:37 PM

Yea, this is awesome. 51-21.
