Will you be playing Starcraft 2?

Honestly, I want to play Diablo 2 again, but don't feel like getting washed back into the boring endless Dueling that takes place in it... But then we have the release of SC2 here eventually, it may be a better options.

I actually feel I can get swamped into this game because of the obvious upgrades, and style of play it consists of, maybe we could even get a guild going together, i'm sure if we got the word out in multiplayer for these forums it would also help out activity a bit, there's nothing really negative that can come from it.

StarCraft II will run on a vibrant new 3D-graphics engine that will be capable of rendering beautiful landscapes as well as massive individual units and army sizes.

We're also introducing a number of distinct new units to the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg, and even some of the familiar units that return in StarCraft II will have new tricks up their sleeves, which will give the game its own unique flavor.

In addition, Battle.net will be overhauled with some new and exciting features to enhance online play and competition, while the campaign will also offer some unique aspects for players who enjoy single-player content. We'll have more details on all these aspects in the months to come.

Will Battle.net be overhauled? Will there be new features?
There will be some exciting new changes and features to Battle.net that will help us ensure that StarCraft II will be the ultimate competitive online real-time strategy game. We're not quite ready to discuss those features at this time, but we look forward to getting into more detail in the future.

I know this game has been discussed before, but it does look awesome, and i'm more looking towards maybe to setup tournaments, possible guilds, etc. I'm sure we'll be able to find out more atleast when a BETA is available, along with the game itself.

I'll be playing it, but I don't have high hopes. I highly doubt it will be as good as or better than Starcraft was. I figure, if I keep my expectations low, I won't be disappointed, and it might exceed my expectations.

D3V 2007-11-21 01:42 PM

Yeah, good logic I suppose. The screenshots make it look promising, and the track record with Blizzard has been phoenomenal IMO, so I figure it's safe to have high hopes.

!King_Amazon! 2007-11-21 02:09 PM

I mostly hope they keep it balanced as well as Starcraft was. That's what made Starcraft so good was the incredible balance.

Thanatos 2007-11-21 02:25 PM

This game is going to force me to buy a computer at home.

I absolutely loved SC/BW. I was so heavy into SC back in the day. I'd wake up at like 4:00 am, play till noon. Take a break. Start back up around 2 and play till 8 or so. I was fuckin hooked.

I like your idea of a Zelaron guild. There's tons of people on here that played SC, I'm sure the same people would turn around and get SC2. I know I will!

!King_Amazon! 2007-11-21 02:29 PM

I still play Starcraft.

D3V 2007-11-21 02:47 PM

I wish I could find my disc, i'd be all over it on muh laptop..

HandOfHeaven 2007-11-22 05:31 PM

Nope. Doesn't appeal to me.

Grav 2007-11-22 05:34 PM

Assuming my laptop can run it, I will play it for fun. Likely single player.

iceman887 2007-11-22 10:24 PM

i hope the system requirements aren't too high, i don't know if I would buy a new computer just to play it

!King_Amazon! 2007-11-23 12:56 AM

It looks like it's running off of the same or a similar engine as WC3. I would expect it won't require much more than WC3 did.

Willkillforfood 2007-11-23 01:12 PM

We'll see. I normally read reviews, etc. before I buy things.

iceman887 2007-11-23 10:44 PM

if that is true which i SO hope it will be then i am 100% going to get this game

Sovereign 2007-11-24 03:02 AM

I already paid for it in full.

All that I have left is the wait :p

Kaneda 2007-11-24 08:52 PM

Ata' Boy! Jump right in head first and if it turns out good, you'll be the man. I'd play it if I ever got to play a game again.

D3V 2007-11-26 06:24 AM

Any word when they're getting it in Sov?..

I actually just purchased Team Fortress 2 last night and took a good chunk of the night to finish up the 7 gig download, anyways I'll probably play it out a bit tomorrow, got a few RL friends that already play it, so maybe i'll get back into gaming somewhat..

kaos 2007-11-26 07:48 PM

Will B.Net be P2P?

Sovereign 2007-11-28 01:57 PM

October 1st is the set release date, but it will more hten likely be delayed into early 2009.

I have no faith in blizzard's release time tables.

Thanatos 2007-11-28 01:59 PM

Hell no. That company is the absolute WORST at doing that. Grrrrr.

Damn, that sucks. I was hoping it would actually be alot SOONER than that. Oh well, I'm sure they'll drop Lich King on us around march so we'll be held over til the end of the year, Rich bastards.

!King_Amazon! 2007-11-28 02:05 PM

I doubt I'll even pick up WotLK, IMO blizzard had an epic failure with TBC. You thought the game was a rep grind before?

The only reason I play WoW anymore is to play my lowbies and to PVP, and I hardly ever do either of those. I've got better things to do.

Oh no I don't plan on getting it either, TBC pissed me off as well  I was hoping the game would becoming more integrated with different styles of play, not just raid raid raid raid raid/rep grind. The game is going to fail IMO, they definately took the wrong direction before, but then AGAIN adding alot more end-game material does make the game more interesting if you are really that into it, it's a vicious cycle
.

But do you have to Pay 2 Play?

They've hinted that it will cost money, but nothing has been decided yet. Or rather, nothing has been made public, yet.

kaos 2007-11-29 09:24 AM

That's whack. It's the only thing that kept me from playing WoW.

Grav 2007-11-29 09:31 AM

That's a funny statement.

Thanatos 2007-11-29 11:25 AM

It better not cost money. Since when does Battle dot fucking net cost money?? This is outrageous!!!

!King_Amazon! 2007-11-29 11:28 AM

Well this is Blizzard we're talking about.

And I don't mean Diablo 1 Diablo 2 Starcraft 1 Blizzard, I mean WoW Blizzard. Money, boy. They know if they charge money for people to play Starcraft 2 online, people will still play it, and they will make more money. Monthly fees obviously don't prevent people from playing, just look at WoW.

They make enough money off of their game sales to support their shitty b.net servers for centuries. Now, if they upgraded them and had better stability i'm sure the game sales could still afford to host the servers with money to spare.

I won't buy it if they do charge, I'm tired of paying for a subscription, that's ridiculous, i'll stick with Team fortress 2.

!King_Amazon! 2007-11-29 11:45 AM

You say that now, but when everyone starts raving about how absolutely amazing the online play is, how great the Use Map Settings maps are, etc, you'll cave. Blizzard knows this.

I know, my knees are weak against blizz :( :(

kaos 2007-11-29 04:51 PM

Yeah, D2 won't even work on Vista now :(.

HandOfHeaven 2007-11-29 10:26 PM

I don't want to play Starcraft 2.

420

!King_Amazon! 2007-11-29 10:28 PM

I think you should smoke a bowl 20 minutes after every hour because somewhere in the world it's 4:20.

HandOfHeaven 2007-11-30 12:49 AM

That'd be convenient. I'm out right now. :(

Yes you can, go to the game.exe file, and change the compatibility to Xp/2000. Just right-click/properties change up the compatibility and badda-bing.

S2 AM 2007-12-05 01:42 PM

I can't say I wouldn't buy it if it's P2P, because I pay for xbox live. I just hope it's less than $50 a year. For $50 a year I get a huge friends list, free downloads occassionally, play any Xbox 360 console game with my friends on that list, and... well I guess that's about it.

I'll be a little angry, but still buy it and pay for the online play. That having been said, they better have better servers than the original Starcraft on Battle net had, and better make more effort to stop map hacking, because that pisses off micro-oriented people like myself.

The biggest question, though, isn't whether I'll pay to play online. The big question is will the other millions of people buying the game pay for online play or even buy the game if they have to pay for online play?

When it comes out I'll be looking forward to playing on Battle net with you guys. It'll be meeting some of you for the first time, but if you like Starcraft, then we definitely share a common interest. :)

Thanatos 2007-12-05 02:19 PM

Starcraft was the only computer game I was seriously addicted to.

It was BAD.
