Remove Sup Mods privledges
 

I think essentially nobody other than the site owner and webmaster (Chruser/WetWired) need to be allowed to view IP address, and any other such information as the Sup Mods shouldn't be able to see this information as it is a violation of privacy, and isn't something we've signed up for here at Zelaron.



Suggestions/Thoughts?

Supreme moderators need to be able to compare IP addresses between different accounts in order to do their job. Why would we give them privledges they don't need? This isn't some cool kids' club, it's a job to be done.

Can't they just leave that up to you and Chruser? I feel that would be the one thing that you should be forced to do, as I am not confortable with some of the sup mods being able to view my IP address.

Do we take "some of the Sup Mods" as being "!K_A!"?

How often do you see WW and Chruser online compared to !K_A! and me? Granted, I'm not online as much as I used to be at the moment, but that all changes after my last exam next Friday, and yes, Chruser and WW are on more often than they used to be, but not enough to do everything themselves.

What exactly does that have to do with it? I understand that they aren't online as much, but I don't feel that somebody that isn't directly involved with this website at the level that Chruser and WW are should be able to view and obtain at any given time an IP address as it is vital to security of one's computer.

I am not, and especially Chruser is not on enough to deal with situations that may require IP comparison. Mantralord is not staff, so you don't need to be afraid of people attacking you.

I wouldn't be afraid of Mantralord doing anything to me anyways, as far as I can tell he doesn't have any issues or hold any grudges.

Also, that again doesn't really have anything to do with it, I guess you maybe have 1 IP comparison check a month where you actually have somebody banned? That is too much to ask?..

I'm sorry, but your security argument is terribly flawed. Any member of this forum could make an image script which gathers IPs and refferer URLs and correlate your IP back to you. They could use it in their signature or make it serve up a smilie or a blank GIF and use it in a post. If you're honestly worried about people obtaining your IP, telling us to change how we run things is the last thing you need to be thinking about.

Use a proxy or a path randomizer.

When it becomes a security issue, perhaps we will consider it. As of right now, not a single staff member has ever used a member's IP address in a malicious way, nor have any of us even threatened to.

You say it's a violation of privacy? What about you attempting to dig up information on other members, which led to the departure of GravitonSurge? You have got to be, in all honesty, the biggest hypocrate I've ever seen. And I'm not exaggerating.

I didn't dig of anything, that was just a lie to get him to shut the fuck up about finding out MJ's information.

As for Afroman, we've already proven who this guy is, and unfortunately he has decided not to post anymore as he finds this place "lame as fuck"; which I honestly don't blame him.

I'm well aware it was a lie, and it was completely obvious, but it led to GravitonSurge leaving Zelaron just because there could be a CHANCE that you weren't lying. You also say that you've dug up information on Mjordan, which is also obviously a lie, but still, you're claiming to have done these things.

Regardless of whether or not Afroman is a seperate person or not, he gave you an absurd amount of positive reputations. Sure, I could create another account on here, say it's Nikki, and rep myself every other day for a few months, but that doesn't mean that it's alright, even if it is her.

Feel free to ask any of the mods or administrators to see what accounts I've got matching IPs with in the recent past. There aren't any.

Just remove Afroman's reps if it frustrates you guys so much.

In the past 3 months, KA has only used one IP address and he is the only one to use that IP address during the same time. On the other hand, in the past 3 months, you have used three different IP addresses. Those addresses are used only by you and Afroman in the same time. The address used by Afroman corresponds with the one you used second most frequently and not the one you are currently using.

So the one I am on now isn't the same one he uses?

No, most likely he uses your home computer.

If you aren't making multiple accounts then there's no reason to be incredibly concerned about Supreme Mods viewing your i.p. address. Truly, if they were wanting to fuck you over, (KA specificly), then he'd probably have found a way by now. He's a pretty industrious fellow. If he hadn't thought of an idea though, then this thread could have invoked that thought in his head :P.

If I really wanted to do something malicious, I wouldn't even know where to start. The best I could do is use his IP address to find out some information about him and possibly come find him/hurt him, but even then I'd only be able to estimate where he lives and would probably never even find him.

Not to mention that I don't care enough about D3v to do anything even remotely that involved. Either way, the point of this thread was not for D3v to voice his concerns that he might be potentially at risk for some sort of attack or something. The point of this thread was for D3v to voice his concerns that he can't break the rules and get away with it.

Hmm, I'm sorry if this afroman is like you're dad or something, but I wouldn't rep a single person so much.

Regardless of whether or not Afroman is a separate person, D3v recieved a disproportionate amount of positive reps from him compared to everyone else that Afroman repped. Not only that, but Afroman negatively repped numerous people on completely random posts with no given reason.

All I know is if anyone's repping privileges are revoked, then you better lump Klo and Kaneda in too. Since it's likely Kaneda using both.
