So, how do you patterns like the Zel banner?

I'm just wondering how stuff like it as well as tacoX's and Chruser's sig are made?

It's a neat effect.

Bezier 2002-11-19 12:11 PM

It's called "computer graphics". You make that kind of stuff starting with Photoshop, then get a 3d proggie and use that with photoshop. They aren't patterns. They're just shapes, barely ever filters (unless it's a n00b), text, etc.

Oh and taco is a ripper, so don't start liking his work. I on the other hand, don't rip.

Chruser 2002-11-19 12:23 PM

I'm too lazy to use Photoshop nowadays. Actually, I use it for pixel art at times, but otherwise, it's mostly Lightwave all the way.

Rurouni Storm 2002-11-19 03:21 PM

Lightwave scares me.

But I play with Maya Personal Edition.

Randuin 2002-11-19 09:17 PM

3dsmax! woot

Rurouni Storm 2002-11-19 10:18 PM

If you can get the full Maya, it's better. ;)

It's what hollywood uses. Mind you, it's an $3000 dollar proggie.

WetWired 2002-11-20 06:26 AM

I think I'd rather use that money on a laptop than on some 3D program :O)

Rurouni Storm 2002-11-20 07:34 AM

Exactly. That's why I use the free version.

Bah, I don't care if you say you use a warez version, just don't help other people find it ;)

Chruser 2002-11-20 08:47 AM

Actually, one of the reasons why MAYA is very famous is because they managed to take the credits for all of the Final Fantasy cutscenes movies, but guess what? The modeling was done in LightWave, while the movie sequences were done in MAYA. MAYA is an excellent movie/film industry program, but LW is a lot harder to beat when it comes to modeling or photorealism. I'm not saying that it's impossible, but it's not very easy.

Rurouni Storm 2002-11-20 08:48 AM

Maybe I should give LW another shot, then.

Well, if we ever manage to team up for Xi, I might as well buy a few licenses to people who will need it. Of course, funding is as always a problem, but since it's not very likely that I will be able to pick up C++ and know it well enough for making Direct3D applications in a few years, I might have no other choice.

YAAAAY! lol

Rurouni Storm 2002-11-20 09:08 AM

Links and ways to get warez are only not allowed because the host doesn't allow it.

Plus, a web bot could flag us as a warez site and get us some pretty horrible members.
