why random realm downs?

i'm sure this has happened to us all. playing a quiet little game of d2, start lagging, starting lagging really bad, and then *poof* YOUR CONNECTION HAS BEEN INTERRUPTED. so you get kicked back to the log in screen. you enter your password and then you find its RD. but you call your friend and find out he's still playing. so you sit on your thumb for about 10 min or so and try again and everything works just fine.

my question is, why do these random realm downs occur to individuals?

to randomlly stop p-botters is my guess, also connectivity issues are a big prob considering every damn realm downtime it involves maintenance of the servers and connectivity issues that need to be resolved.

It's actually IP bans but they are temporary and I'm really not sure of the cause. It seems like if you click anything too much or walk to fast or whatever you get realm down. I can get it by trying to cast identify on a monster.

yea its an ip ban
if u r on dial up all u have to do is redial ur isp
if on cable/dsl/t1/etc... u have to reboot your pc or wait 5-10 min

honestly, bnet needs to do something, because i get rd's too often when i'm not botting. its especially annoying when i am trying to trade my stuff away, and i just copy and spam miy shit. even though i've learned not to spam too often because that will get me kicked, it seems like i still get kicked all the time. just switching channels too quickly will get you kicked. ridiculous.
