Sorc Merc Help
 

I need to know what to put on my Sorc's merc, im going to use the amazon merc. I was thinking .08 shako, bugged valor but i dont kno what bow to use, i got a clean ith hydra and i was thinkin of mabey putting in 6x perfect emralds, but i dont think that would work, any suggestions?

Well in West, most pubbie sorcs' mercs use the following...
Eth BlackHorn for slowing, Ith Hydra/Crusader/Windforce for KB, 08 valor/ed/max/ias/others.

Choice Fire or Cold arrow.
Cold arrow will deal more physical damage, while
Fire arrow will convert half (or all...I forgot~^_^) of the physical dmg into fire dmg.

The merc's...Fpa.

IAS Frames per attack
0 % 17
5 % 16
11 % 15
22 % 14
34 % 13
50 % 12
78 % 11
120 % 10
215 % 9

Hydra bow is 0 base speed.
If she wears 160/60ias armor, and socket 2x 40/15ias on WF and Blackhorn, then the merc will shoot at 11 fpa.
Without the Ias armor she'll be at 13 fpa.

Anyway...6x perfect emerald on Ith hydra...personally I wouldn't do that.

Perfect Emerald = Adds 29 (29.3) poison damage in 1 sec

6 Perfect Emerald Ranged Weapon
bd: 882
frame: 1050
Dmg/sec: 86.13
Total dmg: 3617.58 over42

however...
did you realize mercs don't get anywhere near 165 strength even at lvl 99? i think they have about 130 base str at 99..maybe 135

so your'e going to have to put a prefix/freedom jewel or hel in your valor : /

same with windforce

Or just go with a 160/60ias with +str ><

But that can't be done until the sorc is lv 99 and merc 98...
160/60ias with Str for using windforce,
or fal blackhorn for eth valor windforce...should work?

still 156 str requirement, ethereal only gives -10 to str/dex req

i'd just use good 'ol lionheart, shako, and eaglehorn (lightning hose)

I use ITH110ias/440ed as weopen , The Spirit Shroud armor ( lightning hoose ) then Blackhorn Face. And it works pretty good.

Does lightning hose work well in PvP?
I've never tried one in PvP...only used it for PvM.

Btw, I found out the stats for Rogue merc at lv 98, if hired from normal ^_^

Yeah LH is great. I think its almost full lightning dmg, like fire arrow.
Btw i didnt know that normal hireling is stronger... :wierd:

If you get her from Hell, (say level 60) her starting stat points would be lower than what she should actually have at lv 60 if you have gotten her from normal and leveled her.

I always hire merc from Normal, unless it is a Freeze/Might/Thorn merc in Act2.

Normal Merc always have better stat. It just takes longer to level. (Especially if you're a barb/pally/other melee which is hard to keep merc alive and have to level them in norm/nm cows instead of hell...)

can someone tell me what lighting hose it and how can i get it. is it just by getting a certain amount of + skills cuz if i use a shako, valor and ith that is 6 stat points, so i think ill get it not sure.

Lightning Hose is an attack performed by Rogue merc when she has +3 skills in all her equipements ^_^
It's lightning bolt type thing...doing major lightning damage, and pierces too~

Hmm...calculating the Lightning hose dmg~
Base lightning dmg: 1 - 40 base dmg
From level 1 -9:
+8 max lightning dmg per level

From level 10-15:
+12 max dmg per level

From 16-98:
+20 max lightning per level

And it will hit the monsters/opponents multiple times~

its also auto hit, instead of sometimes missing

that part about leveling takes long is only partially true...

even though the normal mercs start at a lower level, they require less experience to level, so when you get into the 90's your normal merc might catch up and over compensate : )

i'm sure theres some kind of linear function but it's not too important considering it takes a character to get from lvl to the next harder compared to a merc

No I mean it's hard for a melee character to keep low level merc alive in hell cows ^_^
For my zon it was easy, A couple of hell cows and level from ~1x to 60.
But mercs (especially barb and pole merc...) die easily and that's what I mean by "takes long"~

Mercs get no exp if your party did the kill, suffer exp cut if you do the kill, and if the monsters are higher level (10? range).

For sorc and zon it's very easy to level tho. ^_^

zons with might mercs are very quick levelers..

rogues hardly ever do any of their own kills

act 2 mercs with a good damage pole and over 2.5k+ damage and kill many cows quickly, and they leech alot better

i've used rogues and a2 mercs, a2 stay alive alot better because they leech and can take more than ~1-2 hits

How many + skills does my merc have to have to be able to do lightning hose? i got it up to +6 and havn't seen it yet, does the merc have to be a lightning zon merc for it to works, cuz i have a fire one.

+3 skill is what you'd need.
It's random tho, so don't expect the merc to shoot lightning every time.
