I guess you people didn't have much imagination as younger children =/. I guess you think that the Flintstones and the Jetsons are stupid also. They helped revolutionize cartoon television viewing. Thousands of people would tune in every night just to watch them. During the time that they were on, this was a lot of people.

Does South Park and Simpsons count? Else i like those tv-shows very much. Btw is their new South Park episodes over the US?

I wouldn't consider popularity to be an accurate marker of quality, JM. You listen to a lot of N*Sync?

Flintstones and Jetsons were okay back in the day. I never said that The Jetsons sucked Barney's dick... Scooby Doo on the other hand...

Speed Racer # 1 cartoon of all time.

The reason that those cartoons were so popular was due to the amount of imagination required to enjoy them and the quality of the story lines. Not to mention that the graphics were state of the art back then.

By the way, I despise N*Sync. I listen to rap/hip-hop.

That's nothing to be proud of. My N*Sync comment was used to illustrate that just because something is popular, that doesn't mean it's good.

I always hated Hanna Barbera cartoons. I would watch them as a child and ask myself, "why the fuck am I watching this?" They weren't funny, barely imaginative, and just flat out boring. I could put up with about 10 minutes of one episode of The Jetsons before practically clawing my eyes out.

I was well aware of the example that you were trying to make. However, judging their quality based upon popularity was not my initial intention.



What kind of cartoons did you watch as a child, out of curiosity.

I didn't watch TV regularly until I was about 10 or 11. The only cartoons I watched before that were Ninja Turtles, Transformers and G.I. Joe...and the Super Mario Bros. cartoons. But it wasn't a frequent occurence. I honestly can't clearly remember any of those shows besides Ninja Turtles, and that's only because it was the most recent of the bunch.

My problem with shows like The Jetsons and The Flinstones is that they were nothing more than animated sitcoms. I hate sitcoms. They're just trite, humorless, homogenized garbage.

I used to watch Ninja Turtles until my mother thought it had too much violence for a 3 year old to be watching.

Yeah the Ninja Turtles and Betelgeuse were the best! I watch some Fraggle Rock too!! :) now The Simpsons are the best!

Sorry, Dragonball doesn't count. It's anime, not cartoon. I personaly think all cartoon sucks ass, maybe because I grow up from watching anime. So when I compare them both, of couse cartoon graphic look like shits. Even tho I still like Simpson, because it's funny, even tho the graphic suck.
