Should Zelaron get an Abandonware forum

What is Abandonware?
really old games long forgotten by their creators hence free to distribute this includes many games altough its never clear when their creators will start supporting them. and there are also many anti-abandonware assholes

What will there be in an Abandonware forum?
discussions on abandoned games, the abandware legality issue, help finding and playing old games ecc

What does zelaron get from an Abandonware forum?
more members who prefer old games rather than new ones

you should talk to gamecube he is the one that mods Console Games. A lot of people talked about old games and emulators, if thats what you REALLY wanted to talk about, open some threads up in that forum, and i be more than glad to post on them :-P

Yeah but abandonware also includes old pc\amiga\atari games which have been neglected by this site

Medieval Bob 2003-08-11 10:27 AM

They have not been neglected by the site. They have been neglected by the members. If there was a want to talk about these things, the members would, and the admins would make a forum for it.

Also, Atari is a console.

and i guess thats what the poll is for we'll just have to wait and see

Also, atari was a computer as well

A lot of Abandonware is illegal. Zelaron + Illegal Games = Bad.

If you want to talk about it, pm me and I'll send you to a mirc channel that I idle in that is all about old pc games. Maybe you'll have a better time there.

Sorry to drag up an older thread, especially since I just registered, but I felt I had to make some things clear as an actual member of the Abandonware Community.

First of all, all forms of software piracy are Illegal. Abandonware is a form of software piracy as much as warez is. The only difference is a moral one.

In the Abandonware Community we seek to preserve old game titles which are no longer produced and supported by their respective copyright holders and such. One very common mis-conception about Abandonware is that it's about free games. It isn't. In fact, for anyone serious about Abandonware and what it stands for, to see games put back into production and available for sale would be a great step forward, as too often great games dissapear never to be heard of again.

So yeah, there is no such thing as an Abandonware legality issue, it's 100% illegal, as copyrights generally dont' expire for 75 years.

And on another note, this is one huge forum you have here. O_o

It matters not whether you win or lose; what matters is whether I win or lose.

They should add N64 to Abandonware, it could be the answer to my prayers.

Definately not.
