post points

Instead of post counts members should be given points on how many people agree or enjoy reading their posts hence place a counter with two buttons (that increase or decrease the post point) under each post were each member can vote only once per post. at least if someone's a useless imp he/she actually deserves it

It wouldn't work. People might constantly lower someone's points because of personal reasons. Its interesting but it would never work.

"angel" of war 2003-09-03 01:43 PM

True but its better than having people competing on post counts instead they will actually put some thought into them

Kuja`s #1 2003-09-03 01:45 PM

So would Chat posts not count? I doubt a thread about hating pants would get a high score.

"angel" of war 2003-09-03 01:49 PM

Good question, i guess not, people need a place to relax but other forums definatly need this

Senesia 2003-09-03 01:53 PM

Some forums have a point system, but only Moderators for that section can add points for the members.

They also have post counts as well, so...it will show activity and worthiness...

Titusfied 2003-09-03 02:49 PM

Well, if like Senesia said, it was up to the Moderators of the Forum they posted it in, or up to the Sup Mods and Admin to vote on their worthiness, it could be a decent idea. I still voted no because the OP was not very convincing.

RoboticSilence 2003-09-03 03:11 PM

Sure, this could work. But not correctly. So it's a good idea and a bad idea.

Adrenachrome 2003-09-03 07:09 PM

Bad idea, no one would vote and those that would, would vote bad constantly.

The system you've just described is more commonly referred to as a Karma Hack. Very bad, many problems, and as was already pointed out, it gets way too personal.
