Would it be possible to make the chat forum post only worth half the value or none at all because the forums are being over ran by spammers and the majority of people think the post count equals senority
instead of spammers and is making the people that really do help left in the dirt :rant:
this excludes the members that have been here a while and have legitimatly gained there post count with "really useful information"

won't work. The peeps that only care for post count will just invade the on topic forums.

Yeah it's a problem on every forum. The only solution I see is to crack down on spammers i.e a ban.

like it or not, spam is a way for members to communicate and it brings a board together.

ya clearly because this forum is obviously owned by a mod who extremely LOVES spam... if that offended you... i'm truly sorry... but i mean it... it's a clean AND easy solution to those who hate spam

Maybe you guys happen to see the spam since you visit the off-topic/spam forums? I haven't been troubled so far.

It's not cool to start a thread were you seriously want to discuss somethign and somebody pops in and fucks everything up. You can do that in a thread that is meant to be funny. Even in an condolences to queen mum thread but it is annoying to see useless spam bloating interesting topics.
Spam is ok ( I was the king of spammer baby! ) but there is a thin line between funny and annoying.

Maybe we could have a usefull post count also, and the moderators are expected to mark posts as useful or spam...

Probably wouldn't work, though :(

if you don't let the posts in this forum count as posts peeps will just invade the forums where the posts are counted.

What I said is that a post has to be explicitly counted as non-spam. So spam posts don't count--anywhere. So all places have equal possability of gaining you posts, as long as you can post something that isn't spam.

The gold was a good idea to make someones senority show but some of the mods been just playing little games with it.
I'm not saying spam is bad but to make the people that really to help there should be a reward for them im not trying to flame spam or anything because I do spam every once in a while

I guess you are volunteering then to judge all the posts? It's a good idea but won't work coz there are to many new posts everyday. And then you get the "why is my post not counted and his is?" posts.

Better is to move spam to the chat forum (unless it's really stupid like people counting all the time just to improve their post#) and give it some time. You'll see that the community will follow the rules eventually.
