Santa Sniper

Well, it's not really a santa sniper, it's an Eldar from the Warhammer 40k series, if anyone remembers those. Ugh, so much money spent on those models...

santa? Wouldn't that be an elf?

quikspy67 2003-10-28 12:02 PM

Good old War Hammer.

quikspy67 - First warning for spam

Chruser - Nicely done! I really like the motion and the composition of the scene

A couple of tips though

When composing a scene try to create some sort of mood or feeling. An example of this would be a dark alley, drawing shadows on top of everything makes it dark and creepy. Another thing I've noticed is that you're losing some of the definition and became blurry at some areas, such as the body of the sniper and some of the... Pipes? Also at the tip of some pipes you're also losing alot of volumes and this is where the straight thing I told you comes in, if it was straight this volume losing would not be an issue.

Nevertheless, great work, alot of improvement from your other stuff :) You castle was a bit better though (excluding the messy trees :D) But keep workin at it, you've certainly talent for scene composition (I've seen your 3d work :) You can do it)

I wouldent consider what he said "Spam". He was expressing his views on chrusers idea to choose warhammer as a subject of his art. But I guess it could go either way, but it seems like your just pickin on quikspy :wierd:

Jamesadin 2003-10-28 06:56 PM

Its a good picture, and I agree on what Randuin said, it doesn't have as much "atmosphere" as some of your other works. Good though, nevertheless.

And quik, that wasn't really necissarry, try to keep those to a minimum, okay? :D

Demosthenes 2003-10-28 07:23 PM

haha...that's great chruser...but that's not quite santa. He looks more like a green-hooded kkk member.

1 more question off topic:

can the mods warn chruser if he spammed?

Randuin 2003-10-28 08:24 PM

Mjordan - Yes
Penguin - Read the rules I have set, in here even things like "Nice" is considered spam and completely useless.

!King_Amazon! 2003-10-28 08:26 PM

Who cares, ban him anyway. He shouldn't be here at all..

Penguin 2003-10-28 09:18 PM

Randuin: Either issue warnings to most of the people in this thread
http://www.zelaron.com/forums/showth...threadid=23071

Or take back the warning for quikspy. And if you want me to find more threads, i can easily find them and you know i can. So either you go through every topic and issue 50+ warnings, or you get rid of that quikspy warning. Im sick of staff picking of people just cause they dont like them.

Chruser 2003-10-29 04:48 AM

Hey, much appreciated guys. Lighting can do wonders for images as I recall from working with 3d scenes. And QS, I'm kind of disappointed you didn't even KNOW why you got banned last time. Just be careful with your spam, and I'll be happy. :P

Chruser, nice drawing, i like the shades, but titus has a good point, put some blur in the back round (as if i know how to draw :-( well keep up the good work, all of us here at zelaron is enjoying it :-P

Chruser 2003-10-29 06:08 PM

I don't think depth of field is the best way to make depth in a painted image, it's just originally a lense focal flaw considered "cool" by some, and has become somewhat of a trend. Besides, where did Titus comment? :)

Jamesadin 2003-10-29 06:39 PM

Depth of field while painting (in real life, not a computer) is quite hard. Personally, I don't do depth of field in painting, I keep it pretty simple. Adding blur would look...strange. ;)

J_iceman 2003-10-30 07:52 AM

i could of sworn i saw titus post about that....someone in my art class in high school did that and it REALLY looked cool, its too bad i dont have any examples, it was done before, and i know with talent like this, it can be done again :-)
