Does It???

i was wondering does cold mastery help frozen orb cause i add it and it seems like it dont...?

Senesia 2004-03-27 04:04 PM

Indirectly. It is meant to pierce the enemies cold resistance, like it says on the description.

Vollstrecker 2004-03-27 04:11 PM

The amusing thing is, monsters that are Immune to Cold are also immune to the effects of Cold Mastery.

I hate that, it defeats half of the purpose of lowering resists...

Senesia 2004-03-27 04:14 PM

And it already cannot go below zero percent for the non-immunes.

They need a runeword that grants you Conviction when worn. :)

cold

Cold Mastery would still help you in hell for example if you had it at a lvl over 20 or around there right

Come on now... That would not be fair at all. If they do that they they would need to make it like -50 to all resists for you too and maybe -200 hp for you.

Tell you what. Make one up yourself and make a new thread. We can vote if it is balanced or overpowered. Could be fun seeing what people come up with.

Yes it would. For example:
Hell Pindleskin has a base of 50 cold resists in hell. With your lvl 25 cold mastery he would then have –90% cold resistance. Due to your –140% to your enemies cold resistance. That’s kind of why everyone bitches about pvp blizz sorcs because you need some insane cold resists (I’m talking way way past 75) to stay alive for more than a few seconds.

Vollstrecker 2004-03-29 01:53 PM

Cold Mastery does not reduce Cold Resistance below 0.

If he has 50% resists in hell, and your mastery is -200%, he will have -100%
If he has 75% resists in hell, and your mastery is -200%, he will have -100%
If he has 95% resists in hell, and your mastery is -200%, he will have -100%
If he has 75% resists in hell with other stacked resists(4 thul shield), he will have like 200% to all resists in theory. So what you have to do, is shave off his current resist(75%) and keep shaving it until all 200% is gone.
So, if he has 200% resists in total, and you do -200%, he will have 0 resists to cold.

Cold mastery does not effect cold immune monsters.

Just checked Arreat Summit, Cold Mastery does allow dropping below 0%. Must've changed with the patch, good eye. ;)

You are now right 99% of the time. Your D2 knowledge mastery is at lvl19 where as most of us here (ok maybe not most of us, just me and a few others) are at lvl 10. Keep up the good work!
