You'd probably have to add "change other guy's avatar / sig" things in there in addition to the "change other guy's title". Maybe a "Temp ban user for a day" for 1500 points would be useful, as well..

Although, the italic/glow thing wouldn't work very well, since that sets Admins/Mods apart from regular members.

I know I'd buy a ticket for the STFU Lottery, purely because of the name.

Posts, ACTIVE referals(meaning you set something up where if they get a refer and then the refer gets like 100 posts or passes 50% activity or something then they get the points), and making threads. I'm not exactly sure how it works on that particular forum, but I think it's a great idea for activity around here.

Heh, well that would certainly be a nice little algorithm to make up now wouldn't it. Hey, if WW is down for making the code to do this, I think it would add a very interesting aspect to Zelaron.

There is already something like this available at vB.org, however I do worry about abuse. Every point or gold system in the past has been abused and exploited. Definately if implemented, it would be modded to work based off of the activity hack or in a similar manner. Certainly, it is a Cool Thing™; however, I don't see how it will really promote activity. Mostly it will be used to annoy other members, I'm sure.

People want points to annoy other members, other members get annoyed and then they want points to annoy back.

Only place I can really see abuse is referals which is why I threw my idea in there to keep that from happening.

Eh...I'm still neutral on this. As long as I hack up the hack first, I'll go along with this if you can get two other admins to buy in.

If done properly, I think it could be a good idea. But of course there must be guidelines and constraints for this too.

SA Forums use money for this thing to avoid abuse.

Edit: Just a side note, the SA Forums have been made public recently as part of a stress test so feel free to go in and take a look.

Many Chinese forums I've browsed uses this, and they gain point/gold by creating threads/posting (Certain sections don't get the members any point whatsoever), some threads can be set so that only people with X amount of points can view, and some threads need to be bought for certain amount of gold.

Also, point/gold can be given out as prizes in contest...

And you can always take away points/gold as punishment.

I don't know. I'm worried about exploitation (I mod the D2 section, for god's sake).

Well, it would encourage some of the lurkers to venture into the rest of the forum.

I've used this system on cp.org and another private forum i run, and i remember being hacked threw a mysql injection exploit in the store. So i would definitly make sure that the code is safe, which im sure WW would do in the first place.

The way the original system works is you gain points threw post counts, threads counts, and referals. Also allows Staff to donate any amount of money/points/gold (whatever the forum wants to call it).

I would suggest hacking this soley around activity, and longevity as no one can tamper with that system that I know of. And not allowing any Sup Mods, and Mods to donate any amount of money as that will cause for abuse. Donating your own money should be fine.

The referals is also something that i wouldn't have active seeing as anyone can run threw proxys to add a new user name to gain a referal point. (if there is an IP checker) I think it would promate some more activity and also get alot of the D2 members out of the D2 forum and start posting with the rest of the community. Good thinking KA i finaly agree with you on something ^^. I say it would be a great Add-on to zelaron. Finaly put some spice back in here.

Well, it couldent hurt. I dont see it as a priority though so if WW is the one that has to do it because he knows what hes doing then its up to him. I say its worth a try if WW has time to do it and wants to do it.
