Battle! Max Payne vs. Alucard

Arena: Painborne Cathedral

In the Red Corner, armed with an impressive assortment of firearms, bullet-time capabilities and a penchant for film noire narrative! The widowed detective, the hunted hunter, from Max Payne: Max Payne!!!

And in the Blue Corner, armed with a large selection of vicious blades, the ability to tranform into a bat or wolf, and enough arcane magic to put Magus to shame! The son of Dracula, the half-breed vampire slayer, from Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night: Alucard!!!

As our combatants enter the monstrous corpse of the abandoned cathedral, a stale wind blows through the halls and a hush falls over the crowd. The audience waits in anticipation, and just as their patience can no longer be containted, the lights come up. The Second Zelaron Melee Torunament has begun, and the fight begins!

Just in case you were wondering, this is the arena description:

Painborne Cathedral - A monstrous cathedral, approximately 20 stories from base to apex. The inside is an interweaving mixture of leering passageways and enormous chambers. The center of the church is a tremendous stone room filled with marble pews, and a ten story pipe organ taking up the entire back wall. Dilapidated, mildewed, rotten, abandoned, and lit with a sickly green glow.

And these are pics of the Heros locked in battle:

Alucard wins because hes dressed better

!King_Amazon! 2004-06-02 03:44 PM

If I were you and you were me I'd shave my ass and screw your mom.

KagomJack 2004-06-02 04:17 PM

I'd have to say Alucard would win. 1) He can change his shape. 2) He has powerful arcane magic. 3) he has swordplay abilities that would put a lot of samurai (and knights) to shame. He, considering he has vampire blood, is probably fast. Now, I have to say Max would put up a good fight. He has guns and Bullet Time. But with Alucard turning into a bat, flying behind Max, pulling out his sword and slashing the shit out of Max...it's kinda hard to counter...unless you can catch him in the process of turning into a bat. Also, I'm pretty sure Alucard is smart. He'd take advantage of the rotting parts of the church.

Chruser 2004-06-02 04:38 PM

Alucard, feeling familiar with the setting, expects an easy victory, but finds himself being hunted as Max has an almost uncanny ability to infiltrate all sorts of locations and put everyone down, swordplaying vampire or not.

Max Payne, the man of extremely fast reflections and perfect accuracy, easily riddles the confident Alucard full of holes with his Jackhammer. No swordplay, self-polymorphing or arcane magic is of any help against the man who can put down hundreds of trigger-happy terrorists on his own, all expecting him to show up.

Alucard001 2004-06-02 09:19 PM

Without even reading these forums I can say that Alucard will win*points at name... this has absolutely no relivan...* Because only the equal of Alucard can kill him... if you've seen it the characters refer to him "as a monster" and he says himself quote "A dog couldn't kill me"... Kinda like how in LOTR ep 3 where the nazgul guy is like no mortal man can kill me and the girl is like yadda yadda and then you fall asleep... Something like that... max payne is all about destruction and revenge, he doesn't have his head screwed on tight enough to realize what's happening... Alucard has like uber disapearing and all of the classic vampire attributes/abilities... can we say disapear mindfux0r 35 pound dual handgun... max payne just dropped his soap guys... and his shampoo... and conditioner... and fell out of the shower bleeding

Edit: cmon Alucard son of Dracula... bullets don't hurt him...
P.S. Watch Hellsing, one of THE best anime's ever.ever

The only part that made sense to me was the quick edit sentences. The rest, well... :(

I mean, if we get into some Blade style action, what kind of bullets are we talking about here?

Medieval Bob 2004-06-03 11:38 AM

I'd assume the only bullets Max has access to is the ones he uses in the games. If we wanted to be a bit more fair, we could give him some silver, holy-water, blessed, sunlight-emitting bullets, but... We were only allowing characters abilities and items that were soley intended for their use in the game(s) they're from.

Max is shit out of luck on this one. Come to think of it, not many of the people in this tournament will be equipped to deal with a Vampire... Can you burn a vampire?

KagomJack 2004-06-03 12:46 PM

well...if you think about it, there is a slight chance Max could win. They are in a Cathedral...there should be some holy water or a cross somewhere...(this would be using your environment)

Chruser 2004-06-03 12:57 PM

Gah, quit the "Alucard/Max could/would/should win if... Blah, blah" crap. Describe the fight without any preliminary determination of who is going to win. Just write it, and find out in the process who wins. :P

Insane Chaoz 2004-06-05 01:43 AM

Can Max use pain killers? Max could spray the area real quit and then shoots some stuff off the ceiling and make them fall down on the vampire or something. In max payne 1 he did have a few hand to hand weapons

umm wait didn't max payne killed a vampire once wait that was in metal gear my bad..

Raziel 2004-06-05 11:26 PM

Alucard may be immortal, but we already have a rule for friggin' immortal characters. He has a health meter in SOTM, his health meter can be depleted by normal attacks. He won't die from it, but he'll lose the ability to continue the fight. That's how he can lose.

By the way, Alucard is only half vampire.

Raziel 2004-06-08 03:08 AM

Alright, I'm going to get this going a little faster.

Max has his work cut out for him. I've never played Symphony of the Night, but I can already see that Alucard is a certified badass.

Spells - All of these spells consume MP, listed from lowest to highest rate of MP consumption.

Dark Metamorphosis - While the spell is active, any time Alucard strikes an opponent that bleeds, and he makes contact with the blood in any fashion, he regains health.

Wing Smash - While in bat form, executes a ramming attack.

Wolf Charge - While in wolf form, executes a rushing attack.

Hellfire - Alucard can instantly teleport from one end of the screen (let's say something like 20 feet) and launch a fireball salvo at his opponent.

Summon Spirit - Alucard can summon an ethereal spirit to home in and attack one target.

Tetra Spirit - Same as before, only with four spirits instead of one.

Soul Steal - Drains life from enemies.

Familiars - These are various supernatural creatures that Alucard can assign to assist him in his actions.

Faerie Familiar: When she's active, she will administer potions and medicine to Alucard as needed.

Demon Familiar: The demon's most practical use is to press the switches in the Abandoned Mine and the Cave. Otherwise it will use different elemental attacks, depending on its level.

Bat Familiar: Occasionally swoops on enemies. At its level rises, so does the damage it causes. Also, if Alucard morphs into a Bat, the familiar will summon other bats to fly alongside Alucard. These extra bats function like Options in Gradius: if you fire, so will they. The number of "Options" you get depends on the level of the Bat Familiar.

Ghost Familiar: It homes in on enemies and does a weak attack. When it gets to a high enough level, it will Soul Steal enemies.

Sword Familiar: Probably the most powerful Familiar. It will do various swooping and slashing attacks which increase in both frequency and power as the Familiar gains levels. It also allows you to do the Sword Brothers spell.

Aside from that, I know he's capable of transforming into a bat, a wolf and mist. I, however, can't seem to find a single walkthrough where the author took the time to actually explain the benefits of those transformations.

By the way, Titus, here's a much better pic of Alucard. That one you've got up is pretty damned fugly.

Max....Is kind of dead unless he finds some pain killers lol

Titusfied 2004-06-08 11:19 AM

Damnit, in my 3 minutes of relentless searching for pics, you've outdone me...

YoungBlood 2004-06-08 12:35 PM

Max is gone for sure

Fatal1ty 2004-06-10 10:01 AM

what if max sniped her off in the head? Game over?

Medieval Bob 2004-06-10 11:23 AM

Her? Alucard is the son of Dracula...

Somebody isn't informed and doesn't care enough to read the thread before posting...

Penny_Bags 2004-06-12 10:53 PM

I'm sorry, but Alucard doesn't stand a chance, for all of the reasons Chruser stated.

Max would go into bullet time and crack this bitch open with his jackhammer. Alucard's alleged speed doesn't mean shit with bullet time.
