Battle! Paine vs Sam Fisher
Arena: Abandoned Megalopolis
In the Red Corner, equipped with a large variety of abilities, a set of deadly blades and an homage-to-Max-Headroom harido! The orphaned warrior, the dark vixen, from Final Fantasy X-2: Paine!!! And in the Blue Corner, armed with a wide variety of heavy-duty firearms, a massive assortment of handy gadgets and enough skin-tight bodysuits to make the guys from Poison stand in awe! The night-visioned assassin, the nonexistent covert operative, from Splinter Cell: Sam Fisher!!! Skulking through one of the city's massive sky-scrapers, Paine unsheaths her weapon, preparing for the confrontation that lies ahead. Creeping down a dark, narrow hallway on the top floor of some ambiguous conglomerate headquarters, the dark warrior does not take note of the glowing set of eyes located five feet above her head, secluded in shadow. Fisher watches as his prey prowls below him, calculating whether to attack now or wait for a more opportune moment. With a single bead of sweat running down his face, the fight begins... |
Ugh, all the friggin' posts from this thread and some from the other Battle were deleted. I don't even really remember the jist of them either..
I will post their pics again after Attachments are fixed again. |
Are they fixed now?
Basicly, the jist of the posts was that Paine is too abstract since her final state varries vastly from player to player. The one thing that is constant is that eventually she gains the ability to become as powerful as the summons were in FFX, in her own unique way. |
I will check when I get back from class, since I don't have the pics on this computer.
All that means is that Paine is a formiddable foe since her abilities are basically unlimited. Good for her, bad for everyone else.
|
Simple enough. As long as Sam Fisher can find a secluded dark area that would render him invisible, he can set up Sticky Cameras to get a panaramic view of all the entry points for Paine. This way he can know where she is at all time, thus leaving him virtually invulnerable to Magic. Once the right time happens, he can Sticky Shocker or Air Foil her for the stun, then simply Sniper Rifle her face into oblivion.
The smooth walking "ghost" can easily use this arena to his advantage and take her out without her even realizing what hit her. Another scenario. Use the Sticky Camera to get her in sight, then Shoot a Diversion Camera to either (1) Smoke screen her in, then stun, then facial, or (2) get her turned the other way, then stun, then facial. Either way, Sam is a veteran of invisibility and will take this battle. |
Auto-life.
|
Doesn't work in these battles, WetWired. I've already gone over this numerous times, but I'll repeat it here. Once a character loses all of his or her "HP", they've lost the match. I initially started using this rule as a way to make certain that Raziel would not be an unbeatable combatant, because techically he can't be killed. Period. However, he can lose all of his "HP" and be forced into the Spectral Realm, which constitutes his loss in the match. No auto-life, it falls under that exact same rule.

I've never seen any of the FFX-2 team die from a single shot from a canon or gun. Physical attack cures sleep or confusion, so...
|
Well, at Sniper Rifle at a range of about 10-20 feet would easily blow anyone's head off in one shot, nonetheless about 5 quick rythmic shots for good measure.
|
Don't forget a magical barrier against physical attacks (I forget the exact name of the spell, but Paine can get it), or haste.
|
Well, the Barrier doesn't negate all physical attacks, it just significantly diminishes their effectiveness. Again: Shock, Snipe, Shock, change locations. Rinse and repeat to absolute death.
|
Well, yes, that was my point, that the sniper rifle would not deal terminal damage to Paine in one shot.
While Sam is changing locations, Paine can be healing, or restoring by the pre-cast regen spell. |
So, let's see. Sam sets up in a dark corner, and shortly notices Paine coming around the corner. He either distracts her or smoke screens her in, which leads to a Stuning/Shocking device. He then Snipes her head for some decent damage, then Air Foils her to a dizzying state of incoherence, which gives him more than enough time to use his Assault Rifle for a good 15 rounds (Which will take less than 1 second). He then procedes to Stun/Shock her again, and after doing so, he throws 2 grenades, and changes locations, but not very far away.
Sure, if the head shot Sniper, 15 Assaults, and 2 Grenades don't kill her, they will at least damage her pretty well. Now, she has Regen on, which as we all know is a decent spell, but at times, definitely doesn't recover fast enough. I'd say that Sam is in such a location that Paine gets half, at most, of her life back, which is when his viscious Stunning and tactical arsenal is unleashed again, and again, and again, until Regen has nothing to but death to unsuccessfully Regen. |
The time has come for this FF vixon and the invisible man. Later tonight, the results will be announced in the Bracket Thread!!
