Hammerdin Comments

My first Hammerdin is now lvl 75 and doing nicely. He has a wiz and HoZ right now. Was wondering if a Heart of Oak was worth the investment, or if the wiz is good enough to continue with as a high end weapon? Only thing about him is he gets frozen, so I either wear trang belt or a Raven Frost. Guess no character is perfect.

Wiz spike.... does that just give Mf? Or does it have FCR too? I forget. Id go for a HOTO, just because it might come in handy later as well :).

sov ur thinking of gull

wiz has fcr and 75res

Sovereign 2004-07-01 03:10 PM

Oh.... THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME TO ME DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it's a PVP, go for the wiz. The resists should come in handy. Those hammers one hit kill anyway. If it's PVM, I say get a HOTO and use it.

NOTE: I have no experience with hammerdins so I may very well be totally wrong about anything I post in this thread.

Princess_Hibed 2004-07-01 03:12 PM

Wiz has like 50 FCR and 75 resistance, which is nice, but no MF. Can't afford a cham unless I go to ebay and I refuse to pay for D2 stuff. Only chance is to find one laying on ground, which is not likely. I don't think Hellforge goes that high up, but I'm not sure. Maybe I can get a vex for the HoTo, though.

blckshdwdragon 2004-07-01 03:54 PM

stick with the spike i find it better in both cases of PvM and PvP

Vollstrecker 2004-07-01 05:44 PM

I use a HOTO just because I can. :p

iceman887 2004-07-01 05:50 PM

hoto is good to use because hammer gets a lot stronger but wiz is also good becaues if u are low on mana u get alot and u also get more fcr and u get hig res so just your choice, i ues hoto because i can still get max resistance withou wiz and i have bo and i use frostburn and so i have enugh mana and also i dont notice too much difference in fcr so thats why i use hoto, IMO i say hoto

ExT 2004-07-01 06:55 PM

Why use Frostburns? use up'ed magefists :D

DarkXSavior 2004-07-01 11:56 PM

Definitely wizzy
fcr and res helps alot
wear a raven and put on arach at 80

Maleficus 2004-07-02 02:14 AM

hoto...damage is most important vs bosses

iceman887 2004-07-02 08:59 AM

dude, why not frostburns?? WHY MAGE i dont have sojs so i would have LOW mana dude you idiot

ExT 2004-07-02 09:03 AM

Even if you have "LOW" mana, you'd only need to take pots, and since you're using cta, you'd have over 500 mana...

There's no need for frostburn and that's just my opinion, you don't need to call other people idiot because they don't think like you.

Princess_Hibed 2004-07-02 09:56 AM

He's 3 lvls away from being able to use spider belt. At lvl 80 I will try spider belt and switch one SOJ for a Raven in order to avoid the freeze problem.

So if I can't put a cham rune in my armor what else should I put in there? There is a rune, eth I think, that increases mana 15%. Or I could put a Pul in for more defense. Any ideas? I don't have a facet to use for that socket.

Vollstrecker 2004-07-02 10:00 AM

you're thinking of Eth for 15% Mana Regen. Sur rune will increase max mana by 5%.

Freezing doesn't affect cast rate, so if you're an Enigma user, I'd just stick with the SOJ.

Medieval Bob 2004-07-02 10:39 AM

HotO pwns Wiz spike for hammerdins.

+3 To All Skills
+40% Faster Cast Rate
All Resistances +30-40 (varies)
Replenish Life +20
Increase Maximum Mana 15%
+10 To Dexterity

The +3 skills raises damage a lot on hammer. Also, I wouldn't worry about being frozen. Your main goals are +skills, fcr, resists, and life.

My perfect setup would be the following:

HotO
Up'd HoZ with Um
Shako with Um
Mara's
Enigma
Arachnid
2x Soj
Up'd Magefist
Up'd Silkweave
10x Combat Charms with life
Anni

That's 177 resist, +15 to all skills (27 to hammer), 60fc, plenty of mana with Silkweave, HotO, and SOJs, and lots of other assorted skills.

That ends up at.... 24937-25112 damage with maxed resists, enough fc, and plenty of mana for all the hammers you could want. (Plus you have teleport.)

fuck lol nice set up bob

Princess_Hibed 2004-07-02 10:57 AM

I can't get up'd stuff unless I am on ladder - right? So all that up'd stuff is like unobtainium to me. Same with enigma. And only with an incredible amount of luck will I get a vex rune to make the Heart. Same with combat charms. I tried to trade 2-3 cold or lightning GC's for one and the guy kept wanting a 290 as well.

There are times that playing legit has it's drawbacks. :(

Medieval Bob 2004-07-02 11:28 AM

Well don't upgrade the stuff. Get a +2 Arkaine's instead of Engima. Lose the charms. Try to get that vex for the HotO. If you're still playing non-ladder when the season's over, I'll give ya some shit from my ladder chars, as I won't be playing them anymore.

On that note, I'd reccomend you move to ladder with the rest of us.
