Webpage Format
I have noticed that nearly all webpages scroll up/down. Why don't they have the pages scroll from left to right? I think that idea is nifty, and would spark curiosity from it's unique format.

Pages do scroll left and right...
example: http://www-vis.lbl.gov/Research/acti..._hogs.huge.gif or did you mean switch up and down with left and right.... heh. |
Up and down just seems easier to read.
I meant to switch up and down to left and right.
It's annoying to scroll left to right and the mouse wheel is on the Y-axis.
Well, what if your mouse had a ball as opposed to a wheel. Then you could scroll from. left to right and from top to bottom.
It's still annoying.
You mean trackball
But if the page stretched from top to bottom of the window and no further, then there would be no vertical scrollbar, and your wheel will scroll horizontally.
The problem with this idea is that for it to be practical, you'd have to retrain westerners to read large amounts of text top-to-bottom, left-to-right, instead of left-to-right, top-to-bottom. |
