I got an email from the Texas Board of Higher Education today saying that my name, address, loan amount, social security number, and drivers license number were on a laptop that was stolen recently, and that I should take preventive measures against identity theft. Thanks, Texas.

On a less happy note, there's one other thing that's riding my spirits at the moment, and it's a much larger beast altogether. It's not for this place, however. I've seen how some things in personal lives get treated when expressed here, and I'm not in any mood for it. If you think you're worthy to share in my knowledge of misery, you can always IM me.

I go to this forum, I hit get new posts. I come here expecting something possibly mildly amusing, and I get a BLOG. Keep it on Xanga, where at least people will pretend to care.

But most of the posts on Zelaron, at least in the General Convo section are either debates or discussion about something that concerns the entire population, or a personal situation. It can be a story, problem, whatever. That's pretty much what you see here. I mean, when something like getting your personal information stolen happens, people tend to talk about it.

You dumbass. Did you even stop to think what that means? There are a large number of people on Zelaron. There are a handful that I talk to, exchange personal experiences with, and look to for advice. There is a massive truckload that I wouldn't tell a damn thing about myself.

I've gotta interject here, Grav. That's not fair in the slightest. That like saying, "Oh, you lost an arm in a car accident, but you're gonna live and be just fine? Then stop fucking bitching, you didn't get your house destroyed by a tidal wave."

To lessen someone else's personal suffering because it's not as "severe" on a worldwide scale as someone who lost their family in a natural distaster is asinine. You could say that about anything.

"Oh, your dad died of cancer yesterday? Well, stop fucking complaining, at least he didn't starve to death in a conentration camp."

"Huh, you lost your job, your wife cheated on you and your kids hate you for it? Well, too fucking bad. Stop whining, because at least you're not starving to death in Africa."

That's an asinine line of thought. People are allowed to be hurt, Grav, without having to consider the suffering of others first. If I suddenly lost my entire family in a plane crash, I wouldn't expect some guy from Missouri who just got dumped to cease feeling bad so he could mourn for my loss. That doesn't mean that he doesn't care about my loss, but it does mean that the suffering I'm experiencing should not be thrust onto his shoulders as well.

You need to get that idea out of your head, dude. It's archaic, it's ridiculous and it's illogical. You are a person who strikes me as being none of those things. Adhering to that ideal doesn't suit you in the slightest.
