Revolution: Old games not free for download
owned
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=59561 Revolution oldies not free( News ) by GamesIndustry.biz About this game 09/06/2005 08:29 Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has denied rumours that the company plans to distribute its first-party back catalogue for free on the forthcoming Revolution console, but said that some old games may be used as bonus or trial content. Speaking to a business strategy conference in Japan, Iwata touched briefly on the topic of the "Virtual Console" - Nintendo's name for the Revolution's ability to download and play the company's old titles. Referring specifically to online rumours that the company would give away its back catalogue for free on the service, Iwata said that "we have no plans to distribute [our back catalogue] without a fee." Advertisement He would not be drawn on what pricing schemes the firm has in mind, but he did concede that some games might be used as promotional bonuses - for example, offering a free download of an old game with the purchase of a new game, or running special marketing campaigns which allow games to be downloaded for free for a limited period. This is in line with Nintendo's policy on old games at present; while the firm makes a profit from the sale of its back catalogue through schemes like the NES Classics range on the GBA, it's also not averse to bundling old titles as bonus content with their modern updates. Iwata made clear that the ultimate motive for the Revolution download service is to continue to capitalise on Nintendo's back catalogue, telling the conference that "we hope to create a system which allows both Nintendo and [third-party publishers] to make a profit by using [software titles] from the past." Interestingly, the Nintendo boss also confirmed that Revolution users will be able to download demos for the Nintendo DS to the console and then transfer them wirelessly to their handhelds. Much of the rest of the conference, however, was recycled material from Iwata's presentation at E3 in Los Angeles last month, with products such as the Game Boy Advance Micro and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service for the DS, both of which made their debuts at E3, being unveiled for the first time in the Far East. |
How is this owned? I initially thought that there would be a small fee, and it's better than paying like 20 bucks plus shipping at ebay or something. Fuck you again, D3V.
|
It's not owned by any means.
Its a fuck load cheaper then paying 300 dollars for some snes games off of ebay. |
Again, how is this "owned"? Atari, Namco and Capcom make you pay cash to play their old game collections. Nintendo is offering some of the best classic games ever made (a hell of a lot better than Atari's crop, that's for damn sure) and you don't have to buy extra hardware to play them.
You're such a fucking moron, D3V. |
He says he isn't anti-Nintendo...
|
I think it's more that he's anti-Raziel. Since I'm a Nintendo fan, he has to take jabs at anything that will rile me up into arguing with him.
What he doesn't realize is that I don't give a shit what his opinion of Nintendo is. He can piss on the racetrack logo all day if it pleases him. I keep fighting with him because it gives me a nearly infinite number of occasions with which to make him look like the jibbering dumbas he really is. So long as he keeps fighting this same old fanboy war of his, I'll always have a good reason to hammer his ass into the ground in front of the entire forum. He's doing me a favor by acting this way, and he doesn't even know it. |
Its gonna be anothe rkiddy console...its nintendo we're talking about here....Launch Titles:
Mario: "Insert lame name" Wario: "Insert lame name" Yoshi: "Insert lame name" Metroid: "Insert lame name" |
Hades, seriously do you contribute anything to this forum other than stupidity? I've heard you mention contemplating suicide in the past. Why don't you fill your time with deciding how you're going to die, rather than waste this forum's time posting the exact same garbage every single thread. Take D3V with you.
|
You're losered for a reason.
But thanks for the info, Loser . |
Um.... I don't think anyone here expected the games to be free. It was assumed (at least by me) that a fee would be assesed for the download of any classic game.
Not even close to "owned". Please, save it for when it's true, otherwise it loses it's meaning. Sort of like you. |
yeah a small fee is still worth it if you will have a downloaded version of a game. I would be suprised if people couldnt pirate the games with the new consoles basically being computers it think it would be very possible.
|
I would've thought the 'downloadable' mario games (which you don't pay 300 on ebay for) would have been free. Shit, you can get those things at the mall that plug into your TV with lots of the old Nintendo games for like $25.
The thing is they haven't announced a price, which is the key with nintendo, those bastards will probably charge around $15 per game. Make an online account and download it to your memory card. Ah yes and Rico, I'm a 'loser' for trolling. You've been here for '81%' of the time and you haven't done shit for anyone/anything. Go away plz. |
Ok, so $5 a game. What's your point? It's a hell of a lot cheaper than the games for Xbox, which I own. It's not a ridiculous price.
|
That will still be pretty good, even at $5, especially if you are getting the older Final Fantasy games and other great ones like Zelda: A Link To The Past. We should stop throwing around prices until we know what it is. D3V, $15? God you are fucking retarded.
|
I highly doubt it'll be $5, nintendo needs all of the money they can get. These games are 'classics' and go look anywhere, 'analysts' are predicting upwards of $12.
How am I fucking retarted? You are the one who wants to buy a revolution so you can play fucking mario 1. It would be cool to have, don't get me wrong, but there isn't much of an insentive for the GC:Revolution, no lineups etc. They probably won't even release it for a year or so. By then everybody will have their hands on an Xbox or Playstation and not care too much about the other box. I mean if they really want to sell good they'd make it so you could go wi-fi with your DS and actually get more 3rd party developers to go in with them, It's too early to tell anything. Most official specs will be out by the end of the year, (along with the controller design) and price of the system. Edit: you know what they need. A DDR game, with some new designs for the pad, that'd make me buy it. |

A) You pull "facts" and "arguments" directly out of your ass with no concrete proof to back up anything you say. You make shit up, and when people call you on it you run for the hills with your tail tucked between your legs. B) Everything you say is contradictory to everything you've already said in the past. You slip on your own arguments and words as though you're trudging through a swamp made of butter and motor oil. C) You're a fanboy with delusions of intellect. Quote:

I wasn't talking about the DS, dipshit. The shitty Revolution needs wi-fi capabilities, even though nobody will even buy one.
It isn't too early to know the Revolution is going to do just like it's older brother, Gamecube. It will have a busted nut for about a month, then people will realize it's not worth the trouble of waiting another 3 years for a new Zelda to come out. Those things in the mall are not illegal at all, the vendors are run through Sega/Nintendo directly, they companies make those. And i've not said one contradictory thing yet. You if anybody is a fanboy Raziel. You ranted/raved for MONTHS about your DS and when the PSP came out it dominated completely on every sales chart around the world where they were both out and you disappeared for a month. Quote:
Though, games will cost 10-15 dollars and won't be worth it. |
