Wow, Microsoft really blew it. Go read my other post as well, if you havn't already.

They did the same thing witht he original XBOX. They plan on making all their money through the software and XBOX Live.

Well, that's what happens when you want to get so far away from your competitors prices that you drop yours very far down and hope your fanboyfanbase is good enough to keep you in bsuiness.

And how will they make their money back from the people who use them as "Media Center Extenders?" They sit at a price point and packaging that makes them a serious contender for a TV media box for people with little to no interest in games.

The guys at Microsoft are so clever they're stupid!

They're still waiting to make a profit on the original Xbox yes? And that's been out for, what, 2, 3 years?

The thing is, the PS3 will cost a bombshell to make too, so Sony will be in the same boat for a while.

And I've been hearing from people (and subsequently telling them it's utter bullshit) that this time round Xbox Live will be free. So if they are planning on making money from Xbox Live, and the morons who try to tell me things are right, then they are well and truly screwed.

EDIT: Go IBM! They must be laughing now. Chips in all 3 major consoles.

There IS a free level of XBox live, but IIRC, it doesn't include actual gaming; it's for news community and content DL.

And there are two levels of Xbox Live. The free one doesn't do too much. If you want to play games you have to pay.

So there's 2 levels of Xbox Live.

And then the Live you play games on is split into 3 sub-levels of membership that do different things right?
