My Band

Well, none of you on Zel actually knew that I had a band, but I do. Last night was our first show, and we did pretty well... had a crowd of about 60-70, so not bad for a first show. We were asked to play again in about 2 weeks, because my guitarist/vocalist is having surgery, so we can't play for about 2 weeks :-/

Anyways:

Tell me what you think... we sound ALOT better live, we had a really shitty recording.

Constructive Critizism is very welcome.

-Thanks!

-Spector-'s in a band?!

~The End Of The World Is Nigh~

I like the guitar at the start of Meeting Adjourned. That song reminds me of something by Joy Division for some reason.

I'm listening to Be Gone atm. You know, my sister would really like you guys. I'll have to tell her about you.

What are you playing in the band?

You should save your cash from the shows and put it all together and have a professional album made at a studio. That's what my band did and we are pretty much doubling our cash flow now since we can now sell the records at the shows and make twice as much as we were making before.

I play the drums, and I'll take that idea into consideration sue... thanks

Mantralord 2005-12-04 05:02 PM

hay maybe i should be atypical and make my own band!

Well you say you sound better live... but from what I hear, I would say get a new singer. A female perhaps? The dude there almost sounds like a chick anyways, so you may be able to tweak that and have it work for ya.

:p Always glad to help

The guitar doesn't sound "full" enough on Meeting Adjourned, fiddle with the distortion and reverb. Thats just my opinion though, you might be going for a certain sound.

All in all, its pretty good.

D3V 2005-12-05 05:48 PM

My band's name is D12

Sovereign 2005-12-05 08:41 PM

Eh, I'll wait until a better quality version comes out until I give my opinion.

sue_13 2005-12-05 09:28 PM

Do you guys have your own PA? If you do you can basically set up and play shows whenever you want and getting 50 people to come is no problem at all. Charge 2 or 3 bucks or something and you got yourself a decent night. String 10 or so of them together and you got yourself an album.

My darn computer is buffering every few seconds! isn't there something more "dial-up" friendly? maybe a download or something?

sue_13 2005-12-06 09:07 AM

Ouch, the man of science has dial-up. Upgrade!

sciencekid 2005-12-06 12:08 PM

"the man of science" also has a low budget to work with :p

Yeah I'd have to agree with James. Your guitar's tone needs adjustment. The "fullness" or whatever might just be the recording, but either way, it's too.... twangy? I don't know. It sounds like you are using a strat and running that through a Kustom or Fender amp? I could be completely wrong, but my friends tone sounded a ton like that for a while and thats what he was using. Either way, no matter the gear you are using, you are going to want to tweak something. I'd add a little gain, and tweak the high, low, and mid ranges.

I like that first song though.

i thought it was pretty good. I would agree with everyone saying u have to tweak something. Im nopt good at recoginizing what it is tho, so i can be of help. But its not bad. Let me know when more songs are out. I would love to listen to it again
