Ram question
Ok so I had 1gb (2x512mb) running in dual mode.....I needed 1 mroe gig so BF2 could load faster and went and bought a 1gb stick, and to my dismay I coudlnt use 3 sticks on my mobo...can only have 2 sticks running in signal channel :( so do you think it will work if I buy another 1gb stick and set it up like this:
2x1gb (slot 1 and 2) 2x512mb (slot 3 and 4) for a total fo 3gb? (overkill i know but i want dual channel) Will it work with different size sticks? heres what it says on manual http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/9996/ddr8nf.jpg |
Dual channel is nothing special.
And you need two identical pairs. |
BF2 is having trouble with just 1 gig? Geez :/. Maybe I need to buy more too :(. I'm building a new gaming pc right now.

Does your board support it first off? Most likely if it's newer than a year. You're going to have to check your board but MOST are
1<3>2<4> As, you would put the 1gig 1st slot, 512 second, 1gig third, 512 fourth . Even if they aren't, (put 1gb, 1gig, 512, 512) that order, it'll still run fast. Dual mode only helps them process more smoothly, if your processor is above ... 2.4GHz you won't really notice a difference with BF2, as being the HD being scanned can't go that much faster than it already is. But yeah, 2gig will be plenty. |
So im stuck at 1.5 gb in single channel til I get 2x512mb or a 1gb? =/
My main question is: Will i be able to have 2x1gb +2x512mb ?? |
dont worry dude, I'm running 2gb corsair value (4x512) DDR400, at 333mhz :(
