Did anyone enjoy Xbox?

Did anyone? I hear alot of bad things about it....
Like it was the worst system ever and it sucked more than Super Nintendo and many more...I was just wondering cause my freind is wondering if he should get it or not...

NonGayMan 2002-06-24 10:29 AM

Don't listen to people saying "XBOX SUXXX" because they are probably just jealous that Microsoft's first try at a console was such a success.

Silverjinx18 2002-06-25 12:10 AM

yeah man Xbox is awesome! graphics are great...games are pretty great...and you're saving 100 bucks buying it now ;). plus you can spend a few more bucks and have a DVD player as well!!! so yeah Xbox kicks ass!

Raziel 2002-06-25 12:51 AM

WHOA WHOA WHOA. Watch it with the SNES comments. That system is still the best one ANY company has ever released.

NonGayMan 2002-06-25 03:56 PM

Yeah I know don't say SNES sucks because it doesn't.

Mr.Lee 2002-06-25 04:42 PM

I enjoyed it. Nice grafics etc.
Great console actually, but the design of the
control wasnt good...

Silverjinx18 2002-06-25 10:47 PM

yeah that would probably be my only complaint...but you do get used to it after a while...or you could go get special ones....

FunkyBunny 2002-06-28 03:28 PM

Ok, here's the thing:

#1: Xbox pushes more polygons per second than any other system bar none (and by quite a VERY large margin)

#2: People say the price is high, yes it was the most expensive system, but heres the thing:
no hidden costs. PS2, you want online, you're going to need extra bucks for the ethernet card, and if you want the abilities that the xbox has, you're going to need to buy a harddrive (this saves SO much money on memory units as well)

#3: the controller isn't that bad. Big, yes, but after 8 hours, it doesn't cramp up your hand like the other consoles. Plus, if you hate it that much, 3rd party controllers are smaller and cheaper (or you can go with the xbox controller S)

#4: i like the games better, they're a little more reminiscent of PC games but with a console twist. I hate mario, he's a fag. I'd take Master Chief (halo) over him any day.

#5: NES was WAY better than SNES (snes blew). Everyone knows that River City Ransom was the shit.

Raziel 2002-06-28 04:42 PM

No hidden costs??? What about the extra 30 bucks you have to shell out to use the DVD capabilities???

Jamesadin 2002-06-28 07:15 PM

the gamecube controller is the best around, but other than that, its ok.

Sum Yung Guy 2002-06-28 07:26 PM

my fav controler is.......... good ol DC controller

Strider Fury 2002-06-28 07:40 PM

yeah the dreamcast controller was alright tryed it at a friends house before.

Raziel 2002-06-29 03:37 AM

I suppose you were a Genesis fan, FunkyBunny? Maybe that explains why you're an AssBox fan as well.

FunkyBunny 2002-07-01 08:30 PM

AssBox? You must be, what, 12? 13? You're a bit of an idiot aren't you? I'm sure you can come up with something smarter, that's not even a rebutle.

Actually, all the early game systems up till PS2 sucked. I didn't buy any until I bought an xbox, although I was tempted to buy a dreamcast, but I wanted to see how it panned out before I bought one, and unfortunately, things didn't work out for them.

(BTW: xbox as a dvd player is a secondary role, if they bought it JUST as a DVD player I could see complaining, but the fact is. it's a game system first, DVD player second, and where'd you get $30, i bought mine for $10 canadian brand new)

Strider Fury 2002-07-01 11:06 PM

Who cares about the DVD players or the controllers or multiplayer capbillties or the graphics or polygons per second as long as the games are awsome and has replayablity and is fun and is worth your dollars? It all comes down to which one has the best games at the end.

Raziel 2002-07-02 12:21 AM

First off, it's "rebuttal". Before you decide to make blind assumptions about anyone else's intellect, I suggest you learn how to spell. Second, my DVD comment was in response to your "no hidden costs" claim. I pointed out a "hidden cost". That's all. I wasn't claiming that the DVD feature is a primary reason to own the console, just that the extra cash you have to shell out for the feature is precisely what I said it was: a hidden cost. And $30 is the price I keep hearing everyone else list. I wouldn't know personally seeing as I wouldn't actually PAY to own the console. As far as age goes, you're less than a year my elder. Seeing that you are an ASSBOX fan, I wouldn't really consider your age to be a persuasive argument tool in convincing others of your intelligence. That overpriced lump is walking the same path that the NeoGeo, Phillips CD-i, and Atari Jaguar once walked, and it leads directly to the bargain bin at Best Buy.

FunkyBunny 2002-07-02 10:22 AM

Age isn't a marker of intelligence anyways. The fact is, you haven't come up with a valid argument other than insulting those who like the xbox.

Plus, last I heard, xbox had sold more than gamecube by quite a large margin (although admittedly less than PS2, but PS2 has a year on it as well)

So if xbox goes the way of jaguar, you can bet nintendo is going with it.

FunkyBunny 2002-07-02 10:34 AM

Actually, Strider makes the most valid point out of the lot of us.

Really, the system all comes down to the games, I really don't think any of the systems have come into their prime yet, so there isn't much to compare.

The games that came out for PS2 before xbox and GC really didn't seem all that new or innovative or interesting to me. Now that there's a bit of competition in the market, it looks like the games are going to be improving alot.

Sum Yung Guy 2002-07-02 10:49 AM

i would really hate gamecube if most of its games were cartoony kids games

atleast xbox isnt going that route.... we will find out what the fute holds for games

Raziel 2002-07-03 12:06 AM

Funky, I've posted too damn many rants on why the XBox is a terrible console, and I'm just not up to repeating myself again. If you want good reasons, go read Iluvatar's HUGE post series on the "XBox Suxxors" thread. Nintendo has been around for over twenty years, and Microsoft's poorly fashioned "NeoGeo 2" isn't going to make even the slightest dent in the big N's armor. They have conquered almost every other gaming console that has challenged them (aside from PSOne, but they survived the onslaught nevertheless) and XBox is absolutely no different. Microsoft will be sitting right alongside Atari, 3DO and Sega at their next "Lost Consoles Anonymous" meeting, and a few impressive titles like Halo and Morrowind aren't going to change that.
