Michael Jordan vs Kobe Bryant: Bigger Name

Which ball player do you think has made the bigger name for himself? This can be based off of popularity, how big their brands are, etc.

I think Jordan's name was bigger during his time than Bryant's is now, but I don't exactly run in any sports information stream.

Michael Jordan by far far far far far. I don't even like basketball and I can tell you that much.

I'm pretty sure Michael Jordan is one of the most recognized people on the planet still to this day. MJ is by far more popular and with less rape.

Also, I've yet to watch Kobe Bryant star in a movie with Looney Toons characters.

MJ for sure. Maybe when Kobe retires this debate could be more arguable, we don't know all the things he's going to accomplish. Until you win the NBA title 6 years in a row, MJ is the King. No matter what anybody says, Michael Jordan is the best basketball player to ever play the game.

Oh, and fuck that drama queen Kobe. :)

Demosthenes 2007-10-01 09:59 AM

Jordan didn't win 6 years in a row. There was a two year stretch when Houston won! Of course, he was out those years, but still.

Thanatos 2007-10-01 10:00 AM

Heh, I knew I would be corrected there. I wasn't exactly sure. Well, he won 3 years in a row, then there was a pause, then he won another 3. Right?

Well, I voted MJ, but honestly like said above when he retires it may be a different story. I feel that honestly Kobe has had more potential, but more-so in MJ's time there wasn't anything AS GREAT, compared to now in Kobe's time there is much much more talent, so he doesn't look as good

For sure. Back in Jordan's day he had to go up against the likes of Patrick Ewing, Hakeem, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, David Robinson, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, basically a plethora of dominant big men. You don't see that now in the NBA. Pretty much right now all you've got is KG, Shaq, and Tim Duncan.. not even a close comparison.

D3V 2007-10-01 10:22 AM

Well yes true, I think the caliber has changed somewhat though, the game is much faster now.

I would more-so compare LeBron James before I compared Kobe, I see LeBron as being a much better athlete/player than Kobe, even though they are/were both young starts.
