Holy crap. Didn't know they could do that.

That's amazing, I'm not sure about that distance, my car's stereo has been rated right around 148db's and can probbaly only be heard a mile or so away at low frequency ; I do understand that dbs multiply every number they go up, so I guess it is fathomable. I think a jet engine is around 160db.

Well, the medium of sound from a jet plane and from a whale is different. Unless you know of any underwater jets.

That's underwater, and I'm almost willing to bet that their underwater 'sound' radars can detect shit much easier than the human ear. It didn't say "could be heard", just says "detected".
