Nuke the moon
 

That there is water in the form of thick ice on Mars hints that maybe there was life on that planet before this one was stable enough to host life.

Possibly a civilization much like the one we've created existed on that planet, and maybe wiped themselves and the planet's resources out a very long time ago...
