Officials say a 15-year-old Hayward boy who was hit and killed by an Amtrak train was playing "chicken" with two other teens when he was struck by the train Thursday evening.

Alameda County sheriff's Deputy April Luckett, a department spokeswoman, says Austin Price and the two other boys were on their bikes trying to cross in front of the train when Price was hit by the train.

Luckett says the two other teens were not hurt.

Price was a student at nearby San Lorenzo High School, where students frequently hang around the tracks, even though signs on a fence separating the tracks and the school warn students not to come too close.

Natural selection at work I see. I'm not one to usually talk about things like this, but...well, this one speaks for itself.

Ban trains. They are too dangerous.

Considering that trains usually have a pretty predictable path, it is kind of humorous how many people get hit by them.
