Magic Find Question

hi, im playing on d2 classic, and whenever i have my goldwrap on, my mf is up to 415, and all the items that i find are crap, then when i put another belt on my mf goes down to 385 and all the items i find a pretty good. How come when I take my goldwrap off and my MF goes down, all the items i find a good? pls help me.

Well, personally, I like to keep my MF around 360, it seems to get me alot more stuff than 400+ 500+ 600+.

I agree with both of you.
The best result I got was around 380 too.

BMS-IcE- 2002-08-15 02:42 PM

I get my best stuff around 600. I've found grandfather, hellslayer etc with 600, and I've found crap with 818.

Exterminator 2002-08-15 04:10 PM

ummm, BMS-IcE-: are u playing diablo 2 expansion pack? because I dont this u can get mf up to 600 in d2 classic.

BMS-IcE- 2002-08-15 05:25 PM

You also can't get Grandfather and hellslayer in d2 classic. :P

Darkrain, I'm pretty sure no one want's to know about your bodily fluids.... and talk in english, NOT engrish, plus your post is the lamest spam I've seen in any forum, except on www.battle.net with that whole .999999=1 thread.

"CRØNîC-KîLLå" 2002-08-16 12:48 AM

well im about maybe 8% off the tops majic find you can get, i find shit all... sometimes i find GODLY when i have around 100, according to the reserch i have done on diabloii.net using the calculator and viewing the graph the exact BEST mf to have is lamelly 110% mf. Thus giving you a 1/4 chance of a unique dropping 100%for set|100% for rare|100% for majic|100% for unique|... allthough i did no research on the droppings and moster lvl of memph... this too has to be worked out, then you can find the EXACT amount of mf to have a successful drop on memph, so mf has to do with 2 factors, the amount, and the monster lvl and boss

Ricky Recon 2002-08-16 10:33 AM

What IS the top mf you can have and how can you tell (besides actually counting and shit)?

darkrain 2002-08-16 08:06 PM

I am sorry, I felt the need to blabber on about something, weather someone cared or not. Delete the post above this please, also I appologize for anyone who tried to read it and went insane with the grammar. But yeah, I let my pinda for for 2 weeks with around 400 mf and I got:
1 Thunder God and
1 Titans.
Thats 2 weeks, so I deleted my mf char and gave up on pindlebot.

"CRØNîC-KîLLå" 2002-08-16 11:17 PM

dont give up...find out the mf successful rate man,... it all has to do with that specific character... some characters do well with 100 mf, and soem do well with 1000+ mf... you have to find this point, and the easyest way IS through pindabot... trust me when i say this, i have been playing for like 3 years and every char is different to mf, you just have to find the majical amount

That doesnt mean 1/4 items dropped will be unique, because that isnt including NORMAL items, meaning non magical. When an item drops it rolls to see if it will be unique, set, rare, and magical, not specifically in that order. If all 4 rolls come back negative(due to there being no set/unique of that item type or the results of the roll) then the item is normal, Even though your chances are pretty high, more like 1/5 chance to get unique, not including the times when an item drops that cant be unique.

Dark Dragoon 2002-08-17 10:59 AM

Actually it does check in that order. BTW, all of you got the MF wrong. Here's an example:

Pindleskin has a .005% chance to drop a unique item.
Your wearing 300% mf.
Pindle's chance to drop the item becomes .012%.

Reason: Diminishing returns on magic find.

K thx

billyYungGun 2002-08-18 09:35 PM

i think that its all random i got good shit wit 120 and less so just try different values

"CRØNîC-KîLLå" 2002-08-18 11:31 PM

diminishing returns hmmm... it still works out the more mf you have "technically" the better chance you have to finding a unique, allthough i personally dont think that, but i think you got the whole dimishing returns thing wrong bud/// diminishing returns really does meen, the more mf you add on... the next mf will be a less bonus then the added from b4... but you will still have an increase

Doofus_AW 2002-08-19 03:13 PM

I would have to agree that its mostly random. I have found some of my best items (Stormsheild, Shaeffers) with my 48% MF Pally and spent literally hours with my Zon using anywhere between 110 -600 MF on Pindle runs without seeing a single unique, then out of boredom I divert to Eldritch and he drops an Eaglehorn on me lol.
Hey its my first post!!

Baker.Smash 2002-08-19 03:51 PM

eldritch?

Doofus_AW 2002-08-19 03:55 PM

Yea Eldritch, Frigid waypoint, go up (edited by UN#1: everyone would have rectified by himself that it's the way down from Frigid WP) and there he is. He has had some nice drops for me. Usually a set or low end unique but he will surprise you now and then. Its real easy to hit Pindle, Eldritch, Shenk in about 90 seconds.

BMS-IcE- 2002-08-22 02:06 AM

Everythingis unpredictable... You cant say you will find a Windforce if you have 900% MF, and you can't say you will find one with 10%, if you get lucky and find one with 10% then I have one thing to say... Your a <bleeping> <bleep> >_<
