Metric or Imperial

Dont choose one just because you use it in every-day life. Post which one you would rather have if the whole world had to change, and which one makes more sense to you.

To me it is metric. It all goes together nicely.

Freezing point- 0
Boiling point- 100

10 milimeters to a centimeter
10 centimeters to a decameter
100 centimeters to a meter
1000 meters to a kilometer

and the same for liquids and weight.

(I forgot hecter, but no one uses that)

Demosthenes 2002-09-29 05:55 PM

Deffinetly metric. Even though I live in the U.S. I like metric easier. It's all 10's so its a lot easier than nething.

Jamesadin 2002-09-29 06:48 PM

Thank you for not being biast because of nationality

JohnnyTAE 2002-09-30 12:14 AM

I gonna choose metric, a measurement based off of some kings arm along time cannot be any good...
only if ppl wouldn't mind change so much it would have already been done but one thing I don't like
is when the steering wheel is on the right it is much safer on the left

Jamesadin 2002-09-30 06:34 AM

Well, that isnt metric measurement. In Canada we have our steering wheel on that left side also. It is just in Europe they are more congested in their roadways so they evolved differently in terms of vehicles.

tacoX 2002-09-30 12:00 PM

Metric 100%... its very easy to do mathi with it becuase its all divisable by 10's.... and its used worldwide...

The only reason the us does not switch to metrics is because of the cost of road signs. It would rang in the billions....

WetWired 2002-09-30 12:40 PM

I don't really care, as long as things are still measured in feet :p I like a nice, easy to visuallize unit like the foot.

Seriously, I work with both, and both are fine, except that for measuring distances, decimeters are too small and meters are too large for my taste.

Sum Yung Guy 2002-09-30 01:17 PM

Yea if US switch everything over to metric we'd have to redo everything it would be terrible.... Football games just wouldnt have the same impact in metric either.

Chruser 2002-09-30 01:24 PM

I doubt that there would be a major difference to things such as football. I've never really seen any use for using the Imperial system.

I used to be a Warhammer 40K player, and even then, I found it annoying to use the inch bars to measure mortar fire range. Centimeters would have been perfect for a purpose like that.

Jamesadin 2002-09-30 03:14 PM

I never use decameters...no one really does. I use centimeters, meters, kilometers, mililiters, liters, miligrams, grams, and kilograms mostly.

Hades-Knight 2002-09-30 04:16 PM

also oen gay thing about the US is that they call it 'football' and they dontnt even touch the ball with their feet unless its a kick off, everywhere els eint he world football or futbol is soccer

Jamesadin 2002-09-30 08:19 PM

And soccer is football. But what else do you call it? Throwball? Postball?(actually that doesnt sound bad) Tackleball?

tacoX 2002-10-01 05:34 AM
