I actually disagree. I think that was a pathetic attempt at creating something "morbid and eye-opening" for a crappy movie plot. Then again, I full-heartedly hate the Matrix.
I believe the purpose of life, is to enjoy your time given to you here, not to take it for granted, and to hopefully leave the world better than when you came into it. (And I dont mean anything religious by the previous statement, "given to us", as everyone knows I am an Atheist.)
The only people with a purpose to die, are people who've given up on trying.

The ultimate purpose of a life is most definately to end. What you do during that life is what matters.
