If you wanted to let an angry woman vent her furustrations at you then, I suppose, you could have let her continue with the e-mails and the phone calls, but I doubt you would want to do that. Even if you wanted to, that path looked like a sure-shot way to jeopardize your friendship with Dan. You didn't have much else of a choice.
