Since you don't seem to understand where you went wrong, let me explain it to you very clearly.

Wrong. The guys pays them the $3, which is the $30 they spent minus the $3, which is $27. That's 27 / 3 = $9.00 each.

Again, that makes $27, and with the $2 the guy took, that gets them to the correct price they were supposed to pay, $25.
