Battle! Magus vs. Sephiroth

Posted 2003-10-03, 04:02 AM
Arena: Unhallowed Ground - A graveyard, stretching for endless miles in all directions. The elevation of the cemetary varies wildly, with giant hills overlooking the entire area, to 40 foot pits filled with defiled corpses. The land is churned up in areas, tombstones lie broken, and crypts are warped and demented mutations of their former selves. The graveyard is perpetually blanketed by mist. The sun never rises and the moon changes phase constantly, one minute full, the next minute gone.

In the Red Corner, advertising a widow's peak only rivaled by Dracula himself! Equipped with his Doom Sickle, Ailment-Blocking Amulet and an array of arcane spells including the monstrous Dark Matter! The lost son of the Zeal Empire, the tyrant sorcerer, from Chrono Trigger: Magus!!!

And in the Blue Corner, wearing a uniform that seems a tad too stylish for a militray man! Armed with the fearsome Masamune, and carrying an assortment of destructive spells including the tremendous Super Nova summon! The bastard son of Jenvoa, the Angel of Death, from Final Fantasy 7: Sephiroth!!!

The air grows thick, like cooling blood, as these two behemoths approach one another. One, a vengeful mage hell-bent on amassing the power he requires to exact his retribution. The other, a superhuman soldier seeking the life energy that will bring him his desires of omnipotence. The fabric of reality can only sustain so much stress. Will the world survive after this conflict has come to an end? It's time to decide...

Oh, DAMN~~!!!

I haven't really played through Chrono Trigger. All I know is Magus is this scythe or sickle wielding guy who gets to be on your party against Lavos...but his Dark Matter is REALLY painful.

Sephiroth on the other hand knows no pain and shows no fear.

I guess this will be a great bloody battle till the end.

I'm casting my vote on Sephiroth. Do Limit Breaks count?! (if he's got any inside of him; on the other hand, if he did, he could've made mincemeat out of Cloud....^_____^; Go, MASAMUNE~~~~!!!!
Life is short.

Sephiroth didn't have any Limit Breaks in FF7, so no, he would have no access to them. I'm hoping that this will turn out to be a pretty active battle!

I'd say something useful, but I'm not really imaginative.

Sephiroth will win, though.

Well, I don't know much about Magus considering that I HATEChrono. So I'll list some of Sephiroth's attacks.

Ice3, Fire3, Bolt3, Massamune slash, Demi3, Bizzaro Energy, Stigma, Pale Horse, Wall, Black Wing Slash, Supernova

Well NO ONE can dodge Supernova. It could burn the shit out of Magus. Considering that Sephiroth has "All" materia attatched to his level 3 spells, Magus couldn't dodge that either. He could cast Wall to block Dark Matter.

They're both cool-headed from what I've observed. They aren't hot-headied or stupid. They would observe their foes. Well, Sephiroth goes slightly insane when he becomes evil, so he won't be as cool.

He could cast Bizzoro Energy to keep himself alive. Then with his speed, he could attack with Massamune Slash.

Battle:

Sephiroth(Human)
Massamune Slash. Fire3.
Magus: Dark Matter
Sephiroth morphs into Bizzoro Sephiroth.
Bizzoro Sephiroth: Bizzaro Energy. Physical attack. Demi3. Then he could do Stigma.

I don't know all that much about Magus, but that is a good enough ammount I think.

Science Note: Our sun which Sephiroths destroys is not a large star. There for it can not Supernova. Only large stores after become a Red Giant can explode ending in either a black hole or that really dense thing.

OK.

Sephiroth's kinda like human.

Magus isn't.

So who'll win?!

Considering they're both awesome characters, I'm at a loss...

But Sephiroth being all mighty and everything, yeah, I think I'll still cast my vote on him.
Life is short.

Bizzaro Sephiroth has that attack, where the little mini-dudge raises a staff and Bizzaro attacks you.

I have a quick question.

If you're portraying Sephiroth as a "boss character" type, wheras your characters have to fight him, why not portray Magus as the same?

He was a much more formidable enemy when you fought him in his castle. He used a magic shield that constantly changed weaknesses.

Magus is the Ulimate Hybrid between a caster and a melee not to mention is very high speed ! He is extremly strong in melee and his spell are extremly destructive !

His Barrier Change Absorbs all magic except the magic most recently used by himself (for example, if he uses a Fire attack, he's not Absorbing Fire). His Physical damage is Very Good, He Counterattacks with either a Fire spell, a Water spell, a Lightning spell, or a Shadow spell(changing his Barrier). After being about half the combat his Magic Defense Raise lot ! The only Melee attack that can do more then Scartch him is The Masamune.
And Remember That Sephiroth CANNOT use Masamune once he is transformed !

His spell:

Lightning

water

Fire

Lightning 2

Ice 2

Fire 2

Dont get fooled by level 2 of these spell they are extremly strong there no level 3 magic in chrono trigger!

Magic Wall Greatly raise his magic def !

Barrier Change make him possible to damage with only 1 type of magic (absorb other type).

Dark Bomb type: Shadow Damage (can be compared to a mini-ultima stronger then flare but little weaker then ultima)

Edit:
Almost forgot !
Dark Mist type: Shadow Damage. A little weaker then Dark Matter!

Dark Matter type: Shadow Damage. his fav attack ! (It IS Even STONGER then Ultima !)

Geyser Type: Magic damage and causes hp to gradually drop for all characters.

With That Said ! I change my vote for Magus That Would DESTROY Sephiroth in Human Form And would take damage fighting Sephiroth in his Transformed but would be HEALED often by sephiroth because of his Barrier Change !

Magus 1.
Sephiroth 0wned.

I haven't played Chrono trig in a long ass time, but I think that Magus will take sephiorth.

Dark matter wins,

Dark Bomb wins,

Magus is pretty much evil, he's like satan, he will take over this human, no contest, MAGUS OWNS!

Magus was a precursor to Sephiroth and I'm sure that his badassness and utter ability to own was taken into consideration when Squaresoft created Sephiroth. The fact is that Magus is clearly more powerful than Sephiroth (Kuja covered that) and there is absolutely no contest. Sephiroth would get raped like Little Bow Wow.
