ABS Tutorial for RPG Maker XP?
Reply
Posted 2005-08-23, 04:23 PM
Hi! I am making a ABS game on RPG Maker XP called "Xiaolin WOrLD" i got the idea from Xiaolin Showdown. (LOL) It features all 67 Sheng Gong Wu, mysterious artifacts that grant power to the user. Anyway, I need an ABS tutorial for RPG Maker XP because the old ones don't seem to work. Thanks! Bye!

I remember seeing them SOMEWHERE, now I forget. I'd look for them myself, but I am visiting my aunt's house in Nebraska, and the internet connection is like having two tin cans and some string.

Only, replace the string with corn husks tied together, and replace the tin cans with ears of corn as well, since that's all that's out here, really

I'm not joking when I say it took 10 minutes to load this page

I know where to get them! I had one not too long ago as well...

Do you want the battling to be side-view or the default view Caj? I'm pretty sure I can find both versions somewhere.

Btw, nice connection Blue!

Man, pretty much every known site I go to is down nowadays, except phylomortis (which is no help in this case). And any mention of active time battle systems from Google is people requesting one, and others saying it's way too hard to do so.

I WILL NOT GIVE UP THE FIGHT

I've find a great set of tutorials for ABS in RM2K on gamingw.net if those are any help?

RM2Kk had script ediotr right? Maybe they'll work in RMXP? It's a long shot...but...

I read those, they aren't the same thing (assuming that by ABS he wants a time-bar style system and not a Zelda-ish battle system). Also, they're just standard Auto Events that grab keystrokes and the like, not really scripting like with RGSS.

Would it be possible, if only theoretically, to apply the Ruby syntax to the scripts shown in those tutorials?

I miss the old *SUMMON BLUECUBE* days

Anyway, you can probably just use the same Auto Events directly, but again, it's not a timebar system at all so it's not worth the effort, really (it's like the system from legend of mana/secret of evermore, only not as good).

To answer your question, if you really, really wanted to, you could probably Ruby it up by calling custom scripts.

Same system as the other ones - not a time bar system, it's outside of a normal "battle" situation

Hmmm.

I know a couple of places with ABS scripts, Phlyomortis has one if I'm not mistaken, but no tutorials.

I'm wondering if those would do...unless he knows what he's doing then the scripts won't be much good...which is why he's asked for tutorials.

Whaddya think?

What we need is some amazing progammer who ca combine the event menu and side-view battle system (and any other nice bits from RM2K3) with the 3 layer map and 4th layer event and the amazing graphics.

Talking about RMXP, Enterbrain have recently brought out the RMXP english version that is now downloadable from their site.

I don't know. He'll pop up eventually saying he's found what he was looking for, and say thanks to us for looking for him.

It's a nice conversation though, you must admit...

Why don't you post much in the other forums Blue? It'd be nice to see you posting in the Chat Forum and General Conversation and what not.

Sorry to hear about your de-modding btw. It's a shame there aren't normal mods any more, you were doing a good job keeping the vessel ship-shape as well.

I was the bold captain of the proud ship S.S.There's Nothing Here AND THEY TOOK THAT AWAY FROM ME

As to other forums, I don't play the popular games (read: MMORPGS) so I don't read those places, and there's really nothing else that interesting going on at the moment that warrants replying to.
