Well, Today, Me and my dad get to put a Power Steering Pump on a 88' 4WD Stick Shit Nissan. It took six hours to take off, about a week for the new one to arrive, he is gone to get it now. The new one cost $311 and some change. Hopefully we can have it put on in about Three hours, But it's going to have to be lined up. Well, He should be back in about three to ten minutes. But yeah..that's what I have to do today with my dads truck.

Oh Taking it out was a son of a bitch! It had been sitting for two weeks before my brother bought it. And he did a dumbass move and bought it sight unseen. The killer bit was the bolts, they were tighter then a son of a bitch and most were slightly rusted. It did take every bit of Six hours to take off. But it only took an hour of a half to put on. However, they sent us the wrong part, they sent us a core instead of a rebuilt one so we had to wait a little longer to put it on. The worse part was getting the Pump up to where it was supposed to go. It was rather heavy and we had to lift it up to about One foot off the ground from lying on our backs. We finally got it put in and now he has power steering, lucky bastard.

It's better to buy a newer car for more money than an old car you have to fix constantly and/or fix in the beginning for a lot of money.

Yep. In business the money you've sunk into an old car is referred to as a "sunk cost." Sunk costs are not to be considered when deciding to get a new piece of equiptment or to keep the existing one. What matters is what money you'll save/spend on each one. If one is going to be a lot more expensive than the other, then you go with the cheaper one. It's kind of hard to apply that to day-to-day life sometimes, though.

This truck isn't bad at all. It needed a good washing, it was covered in bird shit. And a new Parking Brake cable. But that's all that's wrong with it now, It gets decent gas mileage and it's a 4wd, the truck itself is in good condition.

Not a bad buy, I would've paid more than 1,500 though, considering the mileage on it. Good to hear you got it running correctly, for the most part. Did you guys use some liquid wrench or pb blaster?

Oh no, liquid wrench and pb blaster are both used to untorque bolts, it works its way into the grooves so it's easier to get off bolts that may be rusted or have been torqued by the factory and sat on there for years.

For an 88, you may have to go to a dealer, though i'm sure Napa or Advance auto would carry the part.
