Australia and NZ are "developed", just like Canada. It simply doesn't show up too well, since they don't seem too addicted to electricity.

The east side of USA has the most lights.

Chruser brought up an itresting point, see those 2 lights by madagasgar in the ocean? those are huge... power supplys... secret military bases? nucleur siloS? why would 2 TINY isalnds off the coast of madagasgar have that much power? =0

I hope its a given that those lights are added, I mean, if you can see the enitre US and Canada from a Satellite like that your not gonna be seeing lights like that.

Plus, the whole world isnt dark at once, ever, so I'm assuming its seperate pictures merged together.

- A french overseas department called " L'ile de la Reunion".

The above image is actually a composite of hundreds of pictures made by the orbiting DMSP satellites.

The reason why the whole west side of China is 'dark' is due to the vast elavated mountain surroundings. The people who chose to live there (Gologs) are practically cut off from the modern world.
