Well we all have seen the interesting journeys Square has taken outside of the rpg world. Some being very succesful while others are shamed upon by the critics. What I am talking about is titles like FF X-2 an action game, and another one like FF11 which brings MMORPG to its ranks also, Not too forget there upcoming merger also. With all that mentioned I am curious to what you think about this, Why you think there doing it? and Possible Futures you see for the company (Console Developer, Dead after the changes?)...
I've been told it's an RPG with real-time combat (like Star Ocean or Secret of Mana)
As for the merger, Enix is an even bigger company in Japan. Schools are closed on release dates for Dragon Warrior games. They simply want to pool their resources to stay competitive.
Where do I think Squaresoft's future is headed? Well, judging by their most recent list of disappointments (FF10, FF11, FF X-2, etc.) I would say straight down the toilet. If Square doesn't release something worth a damn, and I mean soon, I will quickly lose my faith in that company's creative abilities.
Squaresoft, stop fucking around and release something GOOD dammit!!!
Xenosaga looks pretty good and then there's the sequel to FF Tactics on the GBA.
Little in the eyes of the expectant... FF X-2 in the way I figure it will be some what like Kingdom Heats more action then RPG elements, and that is the way most of the publicity is deciphering it also.
Raziel sad to say this but it is true they went a bit too far on there little journey. Though I still have faith that after X-2 doesn't sell well they will get over the hype of KH and back to developing some great games..
FFX-2 from the looks of screenshots and from what I've been hearing looks as if its just a normal RPG. And the genre is RPG I presume from looking at this site here...
but I'm not sure, but it might be still a normal RPG not KH style or anything like that. And I would want a normal RPG than an "action" or a "real-time combat".
I couldn't stand FF10. It was only marginally better than 8. Awful hero, awful villain, nauseating plot, aggrivating stat system. The only things I liked about the game were Rikku and Lulu, and even they were not enough to make me enjoy the game.
It's supposed to be turn based, but with some movement involved. I don't quite understand it yet.
If the game is turn based... I swear, I'm going to buy it and throw it in the fire.
I HATE TURN BASED!!!
and as for Raz, I personally didn't like Rikku... cuz of her childish looks and her maturity lvl. But Lulu was an awesome character in every way, including her magics and power.
