Post NGM's guide to being an Engineer

First off, I would just like to say that I started out as a marksman, so you might not have as much credits as I did.

So you want to be an Artisan, but you don't know where to start. Well, if you plan on being artisan only, then I suggest maxing out your action points and have your health really low because you won't need it since you will never be attacked (unless you get attacked by a hostile creature while harvesting or gathering, but you should be able to avoid that). Now, you should start out by surveying and gathering resources closely outside of town. But if you started as a different class and then trained as an artisan, you will be needing somebody to make you the Generic Crafting tool. Just give a shout-out that you need somebody to make you the appropriate tools (GCT, Mineral Survey Data, and Chemical Survey Data)

Now that you have the tools, do what I said before. Start surveying and gathering resources and then making muzzles (it doesn't require a lot of resources to make) until you are Eng II. Once you qualify for the skill, nicely ask somebody to train you. I'm sure they will, and if you are on Chilastra, then I will. Ok, you should now be starting to do travel missions. (It would take a lot of time and work to actually survey the resources and creating muzzles and doing this over and over, so this is the smartest way to go) You want to make sure that the destination points are near eachother, so you don't have to run all over the place. And make sure you can reach these places through the shuttle-port (the tickets are usually only 100 credits, which is extremely cheap). After you finish the two delivery missions, you should have 1.5k creds. You should keep doing this until you have at least 4.5k creds.

You can now afford to buy steel and chemicals. Buy the cheapest you can find, because the quality of the minerals/chemicals doesn't matter. Once you get them, continue to make muzzles until you're Eng III.

You can now make Mineral Harvesters. (These things can make 1k steel over-night so I suggest using them) The only problem is, they require A LOT of resources to make, so you have to make sure that it's in a place with lots of steel (atleast 70%). They don't last forever either, and if you don't repair them, they'll be disappear and you'll lose all the resources you didn't pick up. To pick a good spot, I suggest looking for places that say something like Devire - Steel... BUT MAKE SURE THAT THE HARVESTERS ARE STILL ON. If they are't, that means all the resources have been used up and you'll be screwed out of a lot of the resources you put into making the harvester. I suggest picking a spot with only one other harvester near it.

For your harvester to work properly, you'll need wind energy. You can always get them from me (If your on Chilastra) or buy them from the bazaar. Once you have the wind energy, click the Supply Power and put in as much energy as you want (1 or 2 is usually good).

You also need to choose a resource. Just click the Operate Machinery, then click Change Resource and pick the highest concentrated steel/aluminum you can find. Now, click Turn Harvester On.

You should let your harvester stay on all night, and atleast get 1k resources.

Now that you have more minerals, you're ready to make more muzzles. (You don't always have to make muzzles. Bone armor is good if you have the bone/hide and fiberplast panels which can be made if you have Domestic Arts I) You might need more chemicals. Do more missions if you need to buy more. You should buy more things until you get to Eng IV. And once you get to Eng IV, you can build a Chemical Harvester.

By the way, to get really fast and easy exp to get to Armorsmith, Weaponsmith, or whatever, I suggest making bone armor. It usually gives like 500-700 exp and the hardest to find resource is hide since it sells for a lot of creds and is pretty hard to find.

I hope my guide helped you all.
