Post Future Tourney Ideas

Put ideas for future tourneys here.

1. Team battles--I think it would be cool for characters (not from the same game) to team up in a tourney.

2. Genre specific--While I'm not too hot on this idea, it's a possibility. Yes, characters could be cross-genre. They would simply be classified under their specialty (and possibly only be able to use abilities fromt hat genre).

3. Motive specific--Good v Good and Evil v Evil tourneys.

4. Type specific--Mini boss tourney. Or possibly even a regular-character tournament. (These would include random encounter enemies and standard multiple-encounter enemies; if some are very weak, there could be several or many of them in one fight against an enemy)

Comment on or ask questions about these ideas or make other suggestions.

i only like the first idea.. the others appear to attempt to restrict battles and would only (in my mind) be good as regulatory methods to solve things like game design conflicts in battles.. but design could be half the interesting part

Anime Melee. It would go the same as this, except you choose your favorite anime characters instead of game characters.

If you do that, we might as well have Zelaron Member Melee. Where two members gather somewhere and beat the shit out of eachother.

Well i think having character from diff. game team together would end up with unbalanced team. It would be much simpler to make it all from the same game. It would make things much more interesting as each game as their type of advantage.

Here are the few suggestion i posted a while ago.
Kuja said:
Teams of 2 or 3(All member of a team should be from same game).
Only Female Character.
Only Hero.
Only Evil Villain.
Minion battles.
Sidekick only Battle.

Here a few example of teams that could be interesting.
Meph, Diablo, Baal (Diablo1,2)
Magus, Crono, Frog (Chrono Trigger)
Megaman, Zero, Bass (Megaman Serie)
Kuja, Zidane, Garland (Final Fantasy 9)
Seifer, Squall, Zell (Final Fantasy 8)
Cloud, Sephiroth, Vincent (Final Fantasy 7)
Sabin, Edgard, Terra (Final Fantasy 6)
Sonic, Shadow, Robotnik (Sonic Serie)

Well you guyz get the idea.

Also, it would be nice if the winner or the 2 finalist of the previous Zelaron Melee would get in the next one.

I would prefer Kuja, Garland, and Dethguise
And from 8, Adel, Ultimate Weapon, Ultamecia

Sure, not alot of people lik3d Adel and Ultamecia, but with Ultamecia's powers combined with Adel's and Ultimate Weapon's attacks, any oppoosing team would be dead.

What about an FFX team eh? Seymour, Braska's Final Aeon, and Omega Weapon.

I think it would be better if the teams were made up of people not in the same game. That would encourage diversity and creative arguments. If teams are simply made of teams that already exist, there would be no need for creativity because all the tactics have been done already.

Also, if team battles are an option, it must be decided whether recovery from KO means would be allowed. Can a healer-type character use a life spell? I don't see how it would be a big problem as long as items are off limits and characters only have access to their innately gained spells.

I like the idea of half the characters good and half the characters evil, put all good characters against good characters, evil against evil, so in the end it would end up as 1 good and 1 evil going against each other.

Well if you look at all my suggestion you can see that only the ff6 and crono trigger team are possible in game.

However, there is no reason to start a tournament with your suggestions of teams. If you'll note, there are... what, 32 combatants in the current tournament? I still say they should either be from different games, or there should be no restriction.

Therefore, my argument that teams would already be in existance is a very valid point as two of yours are viable, and they are only examples.

That's why teams are either created intelligently with balance in mind or randomly generated (drawing names from a hat).

Balancing like that would mean comparing each team to each other 1 by 1. Thats almost a zelaron melee just to set the team.

Random would still lead to some unfairness.
Which is why i still think it would be better if they were all from same game.

What if some guys end up with their own nemesis in one team?! THAT would be holy HELL.

I like the ideas Medieval Bob put forward. But then again, if Team Battles would be the idea for the day, the forum in question would have threads miles long just to put everything into focus (not that I'm complaining). I would really love to see a Team Battle Melee.

Um, how about a generic Fighter, Defender, Healer kind of team set-up? If some characters unfortunately end up in a team of all healers or a team of all fighters or a team of all defenders, then it would be VERY unbalanced. The fighters/defenders just have to protect their healers before the other team decides to take them out.

Just take this example:

Rinoa, Garnet, Yuna

VS

Sephiroth, Zidane, Auron

It wouldn't be hard to deduce who's going to win, right?
Life is short.
Let's all grab a BEER~~~!!!

Cause it come back to a few things.
Diff. game would require a VERY long balancing since at this point zelaron melee is still new.
Cause without major balancing it could come to team like Kuja, Magus, Lloyd and it's game over.
Zelaron Melee currently lack way to much activity.
Rules are already made true but i am quite sure that they will be subject to minor or major change/tweeking.

Having said that. It would be much better to aproach something simplier for now in the sake of getting more activity, becoming more familiar with the system and waiting a little longer till the rules are less subject to change.
