"Free SMS"

I was trying to send an SMS to a friend of mine, but due to my lack of a cellular phone, I had to find a web client to use. I googled for "free SMS" and found some various, seemingly good sites I decided to visit. I signed up for this a web-based service with "completely free SMS". At the beginning of the registration, they asked for my cellphone number, so I choose the available "I don't have a cellphone" option. After quite a few steps into the registration, they asked for my cellphone number again, and this time without the "I don't have a cellphone" option. Instead, I had to click "cancel" instead of "continue" to complete the reigstration. I thought for a moment it'd reset the entire registration, but I guess I won the battle anyway.

Or maybe not. When I tried to send the actual message, I got an alert from them about how I would have to pay them a small base fee in order to be able to send SMS messages; OR register my cellphone with them to "earn 8 credits per day for free", which is apparently the kind of currency you're supposed to use to send them. So considering I don't have a cellphone, I would have to pay them. And guess how they wanted me to pay my little fee? By sending them an SMS so they could deduct the fee off my phone card/phone bill.

Maybe the reason why I wanted to use a web-based SMS service in the first place IS BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A GOD DAMN CELL PHONE?! Fucking morons.

The service is located at sms.ac, so take my advice and boycott them. And no, I didn't have any luck with other services, either.

No offense, but this is exactly the kind of replies I was expecting from people who still show off their post count to the public.

I think that is pretty retarded. People don't think any more. Maybe you should mail them with that complaint or something like that. But thats just my opinion.

Sent this to Chruser via MSN, but I figured the forums may benefit (if they're any good):

http://www.munsoned.com/text.cfm
http://sms.tehbox.com

Neither of them require registration, you just type in number of recipient/subject/message and there you go..

Give Otaku Boi666 on aim an i.m. about this. He helped me find one that worked by just typing into the computer. It kicked ass.
